Rosemary's Place

• Apr. 4, 2009 - Celebrations!

I am celebrating today!

I just finished doing our taxes---hurray!!!  I e-filed the Feds, because it was free.  For $19.95 I could e-file NYS---NOT!  I will use a stamp and file for less than $1, thank you very much.  It's beyond me why they would charge for e-filing, as it's easier for them, less paperwork, etc.  Just trying to generate revenue, as near as I can tell.

I am home alone at the moment.  That in itself is a cause for celebration, as it's so rare.  I sent hubby with the boys to the store so I could be here alone and uninterrupted to work on the taxes.  I didn't know if I'd get them done or not, but wanted to at least make a start.  What a lovely thing to get them finished!

While I had some time on the computer, I did a couple of rebates from Staples.  I just love how you can do them on-line instead of mailing them.  I suppose it's a little thing, but it just pleases me no end.  I love to shop Staples for the items I can end up getting free with a rebate.  Or nearly free:  I got a ream of copy paper for $1 after the rebate.  Cool.  I've gotten lots of pens and pencils free this way.  My biggest item ever was an Epson Photo Printer---free!  Yup.  I was buying our digital camera, and they had this photo printer on sale for $99 and was free after the rebate.  I had not expected to buy a photo printer, did not want to spend the money, but getting it free, well, that was worth tying the money up for a few weeks.  That was the biggest thing.  Usually it's just small stuff.  But fun, still.

We did the final move-out inspection for my mother-in-law's apartment on Tuesday, so now we are all finished with that---a definite reason to celebrate!  Now to get my own house in order . . .

Everyone is healthy, happy, and doing well.  That is a huge celebration!

Praise God for His goodness, His mercy, and His faithfulness as He has allowed all these good things to happen.  Thank you, Jesus!

Today is chore day, tomorrow is play day.  We are going to visit both moms:  hoping to arrive at my mother-in-law's facility around noon tomorrow, where we will then go out and get something for lunch and bring it back to eat with her.  We'll be taking a cake with us, as we did not do one for her actual birthday a few weeks ago, as the boys and I were sick and I did not want to bake anything for her with all our germs around.  After that, we're picking my mom up and going to a favorite restaurant; we'll be meeting my sister and her husband, and their daughter and her husband.  My mom got a 15% off coupon from this place for her birthday.  It's smart marketing; they do it every year.  And we like the place, so every year we go make use of it.  They will also do a small cake, since it's a birthday celebration, so my boys will be on a sugar high with cake twice in one day.  Ah, well.  It's not like we do it a lot.  And with one gramma 86 and one 81, we probably don't have too many more birthdays to celebrate with them, so we will make the most of what we have.  (My mother-in-law's and my mom's birthdays are two days apart.)

I can hardly believe that I got this post finished and I'm still alone.  wow.  Now I need to make good use of my time.  In other words, time to tackle the house!  I will start in an area that is difficult for me to work on when the boys are here, and see how far I get.  Oh!  I can turn up the music---MY music---woo-hoo!!  Off I go . . .
