Photos in Entries explained
Since several ladies have said that they don't know how to add links and photos to their blogs...I thought that I would give a quick explanation of the icon available on the "Add Entry" page.

The icons (in order from left to right)
Bold, italics, underline,
left, center, right, justify,
horizontal line,
numbered lists, bulleted lists,
outdent (ya, it's weird), indent, text color, background color,
link,
add image, insert smile,
and clear formatting.
To add photos within an entry...
You will need to upload the pictures to either your HomeSchoolBlogger (HSB) account or an outside photo storage account like FlickR. Understand that you have limited space in your HSB account so if you plan on displaying several photos, you will need to use an outside source for storage or you can remove older photos before you upload newer ones. I will explain FlickR in another post.
To upload photos to HSB:
(NOTE: Uploading to FlickR or PhotoBucket will ease the storage needs of HSB, I highly recommend getting a external photo storage account.)
Click on "File Uploads" on the sidebar of the login page.
Click on the "Browse" button and locate the photo file. Most cameras will store your photos in the MyPicture folder that is located in the MyDocuments folder.
Once the file is located, click on it once to highlight it and then Click on the "Open" button.
The browse window will close and return you to the HSB window.
Click on the "Upload" button. You will need to wait for a short period while the file is sent.
All of your uploaded photos are listed in this window. You will need the web address of the photos that you are going to display in an entry.
Click on one of the photos in the list and it will open in a new window. The address to this picture will display in the address line of your browser (where you normally would type www.CompanyName.com).
Now you have two windows open. Return to the HSB File Upload window and repeat the process for all of the photos that you want to use in your blog entries.
REMEMBER: Leave all of the browser windows open that diplay your photos. We will be using those addresses in just a few minutes.
Now you are ready to make your new entry WITH PHOTOS! Boy do you have a lot of windows open... he he he.
The easiest way that I have found is to completely type
all of your text first and then go in and add photos. While you are entering the text of your entry, press the
Enter key twice to leave a blank line where your pictures will be placed later.
Once you have all of the words entered... the fun begins.
Place your cursor in a blank line where you want to place a photo.
Click on the "Add Image" icon. It is just to the left of the smiley face icon. The "Add Image" icon is a picture of a tree. No really, it's a tree....See the middle one below? World's smallest tree!

A window will come up with "http://" already highlighted. Leave this highlighted because it will be erased when you put the address of your photo here.
Go to the window that we left open earlier with your photo in it.
Highlight the address and "Copy" it.
Return to the HSB window and "Paste" the address into the small open window that has "http://" highlighted.
The address of your photo should now be displayed. Click on "OK".
Your picture should now be loaded into your entry.
BUT WAIT YOU SAY.... it's too big! What do I do now????
(Before you read the following directions, please read my new entry "
How to blog - Scrolling down is slow by pictures"... Thanks)
There are small squares on all of the corners and midway on each edge. Put your mouse cursor on one of the corner squares and drag toward the center of the photo until it is the size that you want. You might need to do this several times until you are satisifed with the results. If you leave the photo large, it might make your whole blog look out of whack. Or as Noodle says, "My blog is whacked, again!"
Now that your first photo is displayed, you can repeat the process with the others.
When you are finished with a photo's "address" you can close its window.
When you are finished entering all of the photos and sizing them, click "Save Changes" at the bottom.
Be sure to come back to this entry and leave a comment if the instructions were helpful or if you run into any problems.
Thanks,
Ronda
