Well, a whole year has passed and I am afraid I win the category for "Blogging Loser!" With everything that goes on here on a daily basis I am afraid blogging was the easiest to just let go! We certainly did a lot this year, I just did not blog it! My goal for next year is to be better. Maybe I will even learn to upload pictures! So this summer I plan to play and read and learn and.... well, get the hang of this blogging "thing"! I enjoy so many people's blogs and they so greatly enrich our home and homeschool lives (as if I could even keep those separate!) that I would love to share some that with others. So a summer goal for me! I will begin today with my first entry and try for one a week describing what we are doing. As homeschoolers we may be "out for the summer" but real learning never ends! ~Hope |

Boy oh boy we are having fun now! This week we are covering Moses and spent Monday watching Prince of Egypt and comparing it to the biblical account. The kids found so many discrepencies, it was wonderful! Yesterday they spent most of the day outside playing. Outside playing you say, what kind of school it that? Well I went to call them in to do some seatwork but stopped and listened to them first. They were playing "Egypt"! Naomi was the Queen, her sister Sarah and cousin Teddie were Princesses and her brother Stephen was the servant! He was actually happy to be the servant because he was also the cupbearer and that meant he got to pretend to taste the food and water to determine if it was poisonous - a perfect boy job! The children were "riding" around on our two small Little Tikes slides. They were sitting double at the top with a rope stuck under the bottom of the slide which was apparently through the "camel's" nose. I think that was loosely based on pictures we have seen in our Children's Bible. I let them play and was once again reminded just how much "schooling" takes place outside of "school"! |

Well, I have not updated our Rambles site for over a month! In truth, I just haven't found the time! The first week in April marked another new chapter in our homeschool lives. We are now homeschooling our nieces Naomi (7), Sarah (6) and our nephew Stephen (9)! It is such a joy to watch these kids "detox" and go from enjoying the social aspect of school to loving learning! Okay, maybe loving learning is a bit much... it's more like loving that school now only takes 2 hours and they can be out back on the playstructure by 10:30 am after breezing through their lessons! Today after school work was done we had a Veggie Tales movie marathon and pajama party! We had our other nephews over, Ethan (8) and Joe-Joe (5), this afternoon and they joined in the fun! Much popcorn was consumed and tons of laughter rang as we watched Lord of the Beans and Minnesota Cuke! Fun for everyone! |

I am hoping that by starting this blog our extended family and friends will be able to participate in our homeschooling experience. I have never blogged before so this will be an adventure in itself! So join us on our first "public" ramble and lets see where it takes us! |

We are now over a month into our new curriculum and a month into doubling our homeschool numbers - both have been an awesome success! We are truly enjoying the Tapestry of Grace curriculum and having more than one child to complete a project with is wonderful for Teddie.
