~ My Current Memory Verses ~

"Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored."
Titus 2:3-5 (NASB)

~ 2009 Theme Verse ~

"Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass"
I Thessalonians 5:24 (NASB)

~ Night Four of Our Celebration ~

Happy Hanukkah!

Tonight was a little different because my son went to his best friend's house.  We ended up doing things differently.  When we got home, we lit our candles and my hubby said the blessings.  Next, my hubby talked about the meaning our candles for tonight.  We then just spent a leisurely evening together.  We played dreidels.  Then my daughter and I sat on the couch while my hubby played songs on the keyboard.  We ended the evening by watching Little Women.

If you remember, last night the third candle represented sin that entered the world.  Thus, God's light to Adam and Eve (thus mankind) was darkened.  So we blew out the shamash candle.  Tonight, the fourth candle represented Jesus.  God came to Earth in the flesh.  The shamash candle now represents Jesus.  Sin is still present, but Jesus' light shines brightly.  Jesus is now in human form, serving.

Because tonight is the night of our holiday celebration where we celebrate the birth of Christ, this is the night we also typically give one gift to one another.  We give each other a gift in celebration of the gift God gave us when He gave us His Son Jesus.  Since our son was not here tonight, we decided to not give the gifts yet.  We will do that another night when our son is here.

We haven't got our film developed yet.  I may have to wait until the end of our celebration to get them all developed at once.  Then maybe I could do a slideshow presentation.

Until tomorrow night...

~ A Little About Us ~

The ultimate goal of Christian home education is to train children to impact the world for God. We want our children to not only hear and learn God's Word, but also be doers of God's Word. Therefore, we strive to teach them:
  1. SERVICE - How to serve God and others
  2. ACHIEVEMENT - To do the best they can in all they do from academic subjects to chores to serving others and more
  3. LOVE - To love God and one another
  4. TRUTH - To live their lives based on the absolute Truth of God
The name of this blog is the acronym for these four areas that we strive to teach our children: S.A.L.T. - Service, Achievement, Love, Truth
