~ My Current Memory Verses ~

"Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored."
Titus 2:3-5 (NASB)

~ 2009 Theme Verse ~

"Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass"
I Thessalonians 5:24 (NASB)

~ We're Doing Well ~

Things are going well.  Our little girl is now off of the ventilator and a lot of the other things as well.  She was on at least four blood pressure medicines at one time, as well as some other medications.  She is now off all the blood pressure meds and the nitric oxide.  She's been on a lot of different things and is now off most of it!

Yesterday was a HUGE day!  She was taken off the ventilator yesterday morning.  THEN.....we got to hold her and I got to feed her.  Yep - what a day!  She didn't do much eating.  Each time she got close to my breast she wanted to sleep.  It was wonderful.  She hadn't snuggled up to me like that since she was born so we figured she was just taking it in and enjoying it.  Plus, she's being weaned off the sedation medicine so the more she's weaned off of that, the more awake and alert she is.  That means, as the medicine is weaned, she will do better with eating.  She's not on much of the sedation medicine at this point.

Last night, the nurse said she slept about 4 hours after we left and then woke up and inhaled some of my breast milk.  This is a big deal.  She latched on to the bottle well and then ate really well.  Then the nurse said she ate a little more about 2 hours later.  So she is doing so well!!!!  I am heading over to the hospital here shortly to be there to try breast feeding her.  I will probably spend most of the day there so that she can begin latching on and feeding well from the breast.

Right now, it looks like we might get to go home Sunday.  However, if she does really well with feeding today, maybe we'll get to go home sooner.  We have to watch some videos, take a CPR class, and do some other things that are required before they discharge you.  So we plan to try to get all that done today if possible.

~ A Little About Us ~

The ultimate goal of Christian home education is to train children to impact the world for God. We want our children to not only hear and learn God's Word, but also be doers of God's Word. Therefore, we strive to teach them:
  1. SERVICE - How to serve God and others
  2. ACHIEVEMENT - To do the best they can in all they do from academic subjects to chores to serving others and more
  3. LOVE - To love God and one another
  4. TRUTH - To live their lives based on the absolute Truth of God
The name of this blog is the acronym for these four areas that we strive to teach our children: S.A.L.T. - Service, Achievement, Love, Truth
