About Me

My husband James and I have been married for 23 years, and we live in the beautiful Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. We have 4 daughters, Ashley- 21, Briana-18, Marissa-11, and Daniella-7. This is our 15th year of homeschooling. I enjoy scrapbooking, reading, camping, games with my family, and Bible study. My most favorite place on earth is sitting on a white sandy beach with the "sand between my toes", listening to the waves splash on shore. Our family is also passionate about adoption, Guatemala, and missions.

The Nutcracker Sweet

Posted in On Stage

We had a nice Thanksgiving  with my parents.  They came over on Wednesday evening.  Marissa was disappointed that it rained, because it meant we didn't get to spend the afternoon leaf sledding.  That's a super fun family event.  If it dries out soon, we owe her one.  She had been excited and looking forward to it for 2 weeks--counting down the days.

On Friday and Saturday, Briana performed in the Nutcracker Sweet.  This is her 4th year.  In the past she has always been in the Corp de Ballet, so this year she was ecstatic to be chosen for the Dew Drop Fairy solo on Friday night, as well as the Spanish trio on Saturday night.    She also danced in the party scene with her Dad again.

As you can see, we had a great time.  The rest of us are plugging away.  Ashley finished a term paper this week for her philosophy class.  Her paper was to include the beliefs of another religion (she chose Islam) and to present the gospel to someone of that religion.  Brain power stuff.    Five out of six of us (not me!!) are in a Christmas musical, so they are practicing for it 2 days a week.  While they're at practice I am having some wonderful, long times with the house to myself!

I love to see pictures of Braina and James dancing. It's very touching! James is becoming a great dancer I am sure.
I am glad you all had a great Thanksgiving day.
We are really enjoying these laid back days with Joes mom. She leaves Wednesday . After we drop her off at the airport we will go do some Christmas shopping. It's a lean year so it will actually make shopping a bit easier.

Have a wonderful week!
Love,
Maria

Leaf sledding! That's great. What a creative tradition. Maybe next year? No leaf sledding for us as we had several inches of snow on Thanksgiving.

I love the Nutcracker. It's my favorite ballet. Your daughter is beautiful.

Nov. 26, 2007 - LEAF sledding?

Posted by Jennifer

I've never heard of leaf sledding. We might have to try that. We have tons of leaves.

Abigail loves ballerinas. I might have to get her into ballet classes. Your daughter looks so beautiful.

Mamaw chose Calhoun's. I believe it is the ONLY new restaurant she knows of up there. That's because someone in her apt. works there. I actually had a steak. Don't normally eat meat, but mamaw hates it when I don't. I got the "red ale" steak. The Calhoun's steak was marinated in BBQ sauce. <---didn't sound good.

My son and his cousins love to do the leaf sledding thing!
Your pictures turned out great....do you mind me asking what camera you use? You caught some great shots in action....I can never seem to do that. I'm thinking maybe I need a new camera for Christmas:)

Time to yourself?! Wow, what a blessing! Briana looked amazing! How exactly do you leaf sled? You mentioned that before, but I didn't really take it seriously :)

What a dream come true for a little girl to be in the nutcracker. My little one is just at the begining of her dancing experience and is so excited about her special Christmas recital next week.
Congrads! Your dd looks wonderful.

She was stunning! I know you're very proud. Sorry to hear about the cancelled leaves-sledding. If you guys are as dry there as we are here, she'll be sledding away soon.We had a tad bit of "mist" last week ourselves.
Blessings,
Lisa
