Back Online!

I have been without our computer for 5 days!!  Hopefully the issues are all sorted out and it wont be happening again.  You don't realize how much you rely on your computer(like checking emails, or looking up a recipe) until you don't have use of it.  What did we do before them??

Anyhow, we are now into day #2 of the new year.  Today as I neatly packed away the Christmas ornaments(the tree is still up in the living room, but bare!), I began to think about what this year will hold.  I always get reflective around New Years, thinking about what has happened in the previous year and what will have happened the next time I unpack the Christmas decorations.

Last year I did not know that God would provide us with a house and here we are, all settled(mostly) in our own place.  The kids continue to get older.  We have another family birthday coming in a week or so.  Chickadee(who is 10) was talking today about how 'in another 10 years she'll be 20!!' That makes me wish we could make time stand still, or at least go a little slower.

I do not know what the next year will hold, but I'm so glad that I know the One Who Does!!

I don't usually make New Year's resolutions.  I'm not a goal oriented person.  However,  I'm also not perfect(surprise!surprise!), and so I do have areas that I need to work on.  One thing that I would like to conquer is my 'paper management' or lack thereof.  I have a very bad habit of forming paper piles, although I usually know what's in them, it is not good for household management. And it drives Hubby crazy.  I have a filing cabinet, cubby holes and a paper shredder-I just need to make the time to use them!!

I also need to start getting up earlier.  I used to do this before my baby was born, 16 (ahem!) months ago, but have not been good at it lately.  In fact the whole family needs to get to bed earlier and get up earlier, but it starts with me.

And I've had far too much sweet things in the last week that I just want to eat salad!  I think that for Lent this year, I'll give up not only chocolate, but all sweets.

So, I'm switching gears from 'brain going to mush' to 'back into school mode' and what I want to still do in this school year.  I would like to do a unit on 'rocks and minerals' and more Nature Study as well as Fine Arts. Our 'Great Nana' gave us a family pass to the zoo for Christmas.  What a great gift! My plan is to take the kids for an afternoon and just study one or two animals each time.  We can take our sketch books, some snacks and just plant ourselves where we can observe. I'll be sure to blog about that!!

Well, blessings to you, where ever you are, and what ever you're doing,
I hope that peace that passes understanding will rule in your heart in the coming year!

You sound so like me!!!!!!!!!! I can say yes to all of the above lol.
Re flat travelling, if you wanted to send one here, we'd love another Canadian exchange. My hubby wants to move to Canada (his uncle lived in Ontario) although I doubt if we'd get in easily with my daughter's health issues. One day I plan to visit but for now, will travel through the kid's flatties.

Your nature study idea is great! And the things you want to work on are things I need to work on too -- especially the paper piles. I have stacks piled INSIDE my filing cabinet. Yes, piled instead of filed.

Have a Happy New Year!
