Show & Tell Friday

Time for Show & Tell with Canadagirl.
(I almost forgot it was Friday already!!)

I'm sharing my 'great find' of the week:
Look at all the neat books I got at a library book sale for only $4.00!!

P1010929

There were a couple of magazines in the package as well(a Country Living and a Country Home), but they were already put on the shelf.  I only buy used magazines if they're a favourite(like Country Living) or if I'm going to use them for the kids to cut up for projects.

Anyhow, back to the books.  I was so excited to find the Kids Canadian Tree Book because now I have the whole set(Bird, Bug and Plant).
I also already have the first edition of Shakespeare Stories, so to find the second one really cheap and in good condition was also quite exciting!! (I love a good deal on something I was  going to buy anyway.  I think it actually makes me giddy!!)
And Chickadee(10yr dd for whom I also picked up the horse book) has begun teaching herself to play the recorder(a Christmas gift).
I'm sure they will all come in handy in our homeschooling at some point!

Thanks for coming to visit!!

(ps. Please see my post below if you have any recommendations.
Thanks a bunch!!)

As someone who was playing recorder at age ten, then scored a music scholarship to highschool a year later, tell your daughter to have fun & not doubt that she is indeed playing a 'real" instrument!

Cheers,
Cate

Book stuff...and more...

This is truly a great find! Such a deal. Makes you feel good, doesn't it? Now, on to your other questions from the day before:
1) Try going into your account, then click "settings" then click "comments" then find "comment notification" and click so the green dot is in "notify me by e-mail when I get a comment."
Surely the forum told you that! I wasn't getting comments, either, and it really was a simple fix.
2) You should reply to folks' question, etc., by going to THEIR blog and writing in THEIR Cbox or by leaving a comment. Most folks are sporadic about visiting, so if I asked you a question, chances are I wouldn't be back for a while to see if you answered it.
3) If you are looking for some fun historical books, with character development and high adventure, I (bashfully) suggest my Circle C Adventures. I can't believe I'm brave enough to do that! A year ago I would have been too shy, but it seems that enough people are telling me they are a great read I'm getting braver. Here is a review from The Old Schoolhouse, in case you need an official "recommendation."

CBD offers them pretty cheap. Hope that helps. And I hope my suggestions about the other stuff is helpful, too!

I have to actually get rid of books. I inherited all my book loving relatives' books too. Many are antiques but many were not. I gave two loads to a used book lady where my parent's home was. Now we will be moving. I keep giving things away though. I thought I'd offer them first to our very small homeschool support group.

You found a great find at a great value!

I just read Susan Marlow's Circle C Adventure Books and now our 12 yr old dd is and she is loving reading them.

Last year I read, Debi Pearl's "Created to be His Help Meet" and it gets good reviews, if you don't already have it. I have seen good comments on it from blogs lately too. I got a lot out or her book too.
