Before & After

I'm a little late getting this up(we had a lovely day at the park), and this is kind of a boring Show & Tell, but I thought I'd share this anyway because it made my day.

Since we moved in(last June), we've been living with this ugly pea soup green in our living room.(My apologies if you like pea soup green, but it's just not a colour I'm fond of.)

This last week Hubby had a free afternoon and decided to tackle this wall.(You may recall that we discovered that the previous owners had painted over an oil based paint and so we needed to scrape the walls before repainting.  It was taking forever to get the walls scraped and so we decided to only scrap the walls that might get nicked.)

Here it is before(or just at the beginning)...

And here it is after...

Eventually we'd like to get a chunky wooden beam to replace the mantle, but Hubby decided that in the meantime, black would look better than white and he took off the white trim.
We also plan to replace the white tile hearth with black or gray slate.
It's hard in these pictures to really see the difference in colour and so I took this to show it up better...

And for those who are inclined towards interior design, the colour I picked is Kingsport Gray by Benjamin Moore.

(Also, the WW II airplane painting is going to go in the boys bedroom once we get it painted etc. I'd like to hang something a little more rustic looking.)

Thanks for dropping by today!

I'm glad that you had a nice day at the park.
You room is looking great - isn't it a nice feeling to see improvements in the home we live in? I always feel so good about that.

I agree the new color is much nicer and the fireplace looks better without the white trim. It looks like a warm, cozy room.

I love the newness feeling after painting a room. I hardly ever get to do it, but it's wonderful when we do! Yours looks really great. Nice color for that fireplace.

We have a room with oil paint over something else...one day I will redo it. Of all rooms it is our master bath. So it is out of site out of mind at the moment! I love the gray color. It is very soothing. Thanks for sharing the name!

The corner pic. really shows the color differences well.
It looks great......good choice in color. I like the black on the mantle, too.
