Birthday Wishes
Eleven years ago today, I had my first baby!
A precious baby girl, we were thrilled!
Not only was a baby born, but a mother was born too.
I had always wanted children and wanted to be a "mama" sooo bad. People used to talk about being 'ready' to have kids. I didn't know what they were talking about, I felt like I'd been ready my whole life!
I read all of the parenting books I could get my hands on, I wanted to do everything 'just right'. Did I make mistakes? Oh yes, one of them was probably trying to do everything right!
Somehow, all firstborns survive our hit and miss efforts of being a good parent!
Oh, she was such a joy! And still is!
Where have these 11 years gone, I don't know. All year I've been teasing her that she can't turn 11, she'd have to stay 10 forever! But she's determined, 11 it must be. And for her that means a whole new world of growing up. For me, I'm completely freaked out!! Saying 'good-bye' to my little baby girl and 'hello' to a young lady!
I'm not ready, but thankfully I have an 'in' with her Creator, the One who blessed me with her presence and made her who she is.
(Thankfully I'm typing this, and so you don't have to see me choked with emotion!)
