New Stuff!

I think we all would agree that it's nice to have new things once in a while.  Today for Show & Tell, I'm sharing a couple of new things from around the house.

The first is a lovely surprise from Hubby.  He has always been good at spoiling me and a few years ago he figured out that my 'love language' (one of them) was 'gifts'.

So last weekend while at an outlet mall buying Chucks(shoes) for himself, he also bought me something new:
A French Rolling Pin!!

I was very excited because I have wanted(dreamed of, wished for) one of these for a while now.
I have to tell you, as I was posting this, Hubby walked by and thought it was strange for me to be posting a picture of it,
but I had to share what he had done for me!
I haven't used it yet.  I guess I'll have to make some pastry....and berries are in season....mmm.

(I must also add that the picture didn't look like much, just a stick of wood and so I added the text.  I think I also created an optical illusion.  I don't know if it's just me, but the top edge of the picture looks crooked, but it's not.  It's because the end of the rolling pin slopes.)

I babble...
and so I'll continue on with the next photo.

Recently, Hubby also built two picnic tables from a Home Depot kit, for our deck.
Now when we eat outside, our entire family can sit at a table!
Our old patio set had just a round table that sat 4 and so we often ended up eating on our laps.
Now we have room for company too!
Our plan is to get two matching market umbrellas for them. Maybe when all of the outdoor things go on sale at the end of the Summer we'll find something suitable.
It would be nice to get the kind that have tiny LED lights under them to create ambiance.

Added note: Some of you have been asking about French rolling pins.
Hopefully this link
will answer all of your questions.

What a fancy rolling pin. I've seen them on the Food Network channel. My kids broke my rolling pin while using it on play doh. So, I just use a drinking glass now.

I have been wanting a weighted roller ( different than a pastery roller) for years! So I do understand the joy of receiving a roller! Your tables are beautiful! And the Butterscotch Brickle...YUM! I am going to try it next week. This week it is Canada Girls Wacky Cake.

Your DH really blessed you!!! (I have never heard of a French Rolling pin before - what makes it different, just that it doesn't have "handles?" Excuse my ignorance!)

Love the picnic tables. They will be wonderful with market umbrellas and lights.

Blessings,
Kym

:)

You have a wonderful husband! Those picnic tables are lovely, and the French rolling pin looks like fun to use. My mom got me a marble rolling pin and pastry board for my birthday this year, and I *love* using them. I knead all my bread dough on the board. I hope you enjoy yours as much!!!

Have a lovely weekend, my friend!

Ok, I'm Jealous!:}

I want one tooooo!!!!!!!!! I'll have to put a bug in my hubby's ear about this one!!

Don't you love being spoiled?! Let us know how the berry pastries turn out!! (Now I'm hungry!)

Thanks for sharing,
Robyn

I didn't think the picture looked crooked. But I do have a question. How is a French rolling pin superior (or different from) to a regular American rolling pin? They both roll out the dough, don't they? Just curious.

Hee he. I can just see your hubby looking funny at putting a pic of a rolling pin on the net. But he thinks that we have hatchets too. [0; I love hear what you sweetie does for you ! You are very blessed with him.

I hope you have lots and lots of fun times this summer using the picnic tables !

Blessings and ((HUGS)) my SSiC

What a nice husband!

I'm so glad your dh has found your love language. What nice gifts too! My dh is making us a new bed out of twisted aspen poles he found in the woods. It is very close to being done! Very cool. I'll share it when it is finished!

Thanks for your faithful visits and comments to my blog. And yes, my son could see even though his eyes were swollen. He was very crabby though. I have a t-shirt that says "Crabby Joe's Deep Sea Fishing" that I like to have him wear on just such occasions.
