Encouraging Sunday #14

House Lit Up at Night
House Lit Up at Night

The Home is a lighthouse which has
the lamp of God on the table
and the light of Christ in the window,
to give guidance to those who wander in darkness.
Henry Rische

As we approach Christmas, I'm thinking of the idea of 'coming home for Christmas'.  Our children are all still young and they will already be with us on Christmas morning.  One thing that Hubby and I look forward to when our children are grown, is when they all come home for Christmas.
And I hope that they want to!

I want my home to be a warm, friendly place where they can take off their coat and unwind.  A refuge.
The world can be cold and dark at times.
Even now, though our relationship has been under strain at times, when I go to my mother's house, she makes me tea and I feel I can relax.

I pray that Christ's love will be a beacon in my home.
I pray that the friends my children will bring home, and eventually their spouses, will see Him when they are here.
And I hope that the light of Christ will be seen by others in the neighbourhood too.

God blessed us with this house, but the neighbourhood can be a little rough around the edges.  Sometimes we feel like building a high, cement wall around our property.
But that won't do if we are to be a LIGHThouse.
"Practice hospitality"(Romans 12:13) we are told.  And honestly, I don't always feel like doing that, but it sure feels good when I do!
"I can do all things through Him..."(Philippians 4:13) after all.

Have a Blessed Sunday!

What a beautiful house!

I can totally relate to everything you wrote. I long to have a place of our own - a permanent place - where the children can finish their growing up years. A place where they will remember all those little memories you store throughout your childhood. A place to come 'home' to that is truly coming home. I can so relate - only my life is constantly in a state of transition and I never know where home will be. It's discouraging.

Wishing you and your family a blessed Christmas season.
