Camping trip

Last week we ventured on our second attempt at camping this Summer.
Our first trip was in June.  Our kids got sick, it rained and the tent trailer leaked.  We ended up coming home early.
This time we had a much more enjoyable experience.
It was our first Summer camping with all 6 kids.

We packed up and headed south of the border to Whidbey Island in Washington State.  Hubby & I had been there before, but it had been about 8 years since then.

I love Whidbey Island! Miles of shoreline, quaint towns, adorable country houses and a slow pace to life.

Our first campsite was at Deception Pass state park.  Our site was totally private, although the website said otherwise.

I just loved all of the tall trees! I could sit and stare at them all day!

We spent a wonderful day at the beach.

I know it looks cloudy, but it wasn't cold.  It was just the sea mist.  It showed up every morning and burned off in the afternoon.
I enjoyed this:

(The kids thought it was funny for me to take a picture of my feet!)
And the kids enjoyed this:

And there were plenty of these:

...which, of course, we had to bring some home!!

This was another beach at Deception Pass that we explored and I found some sea-glass!

We spent an afternoon exploring Fort Casey.  The boys really enjoyed that!

And the Admirality Lighthouse

We also stopped by the towns of Langley,

and Coupeville.

Both very quaint, with lovely little shops.
This was one of my favourite houses:

Something else I liked was all of the Arbutus trees with their noticeable red bark.

Dahlias that Hubby bought me at a roadside stand.

All in all, we had a great time, the kids thrived at being outside all day and we dropped into bed each night exhausted.
I came home to mountains of camping laundry, but it was all worth it!

Hi! Thanks for your kind comment :-) This is some really beautiful scenery, thanks for sharing! I have actually been to Canada once when I was a kid. It was really nice and we had a lot of fun. My mom still has the picture with me standing one foot in Canada and one in the USA :-) I like your blog and I will be sure to stop by again! Bye for now :O)
