Some of you may have seen the Menus 4 Moms website, but I love the great ideas it has on it. I haven't actually used the menus on there yet (mostly because I'm on a diet), but this week they've posted a great one for getting lots of ground beef meals in the freezer. This is something I'd love to do! I'm going to print it and add it to my Family Organizer notebook so I can have these on hand when we pick up our meat (we buy a portion of a cow).
Here's the link to the hamburger plan. You may want to think about printing it as well if it looks like something you'd want to do. I'm not sure how long it will be on her site.
Have you ever tried bulk cooking? I've done Once a Month Cooking, but it was 30 different recipes and it took soooo long. We loved the end result of so many meals being ready and in the freezer, but didn't ever spend the time to do it again. It took my husband and I a full day plus a half to get it all done! We were exhausted and my feet were sore. That was back when I only had 2 kids....now that I have 4, I'm sure it would be harder to stay in the kitchen that long! I think it makes a lot more sense to double recipes and freeze one....or brown up lots of ground beef so you can easily and quickly throw it into a recipe, etc. |
Oct. 11, 2006 - I do something similar...
It is SO nice to just run out to the freezer and grab a ziploc bag of already cooked meat to throw in whatever I am making. HUGE time saver! GO FOR IT!
