Let me just say that it is so cold out today. Last night was even worse. I am incredibly thankful for a home with a woodburner, lots of blankets, coffee, and slippers. We woke up this morning and our pipes had frozen in the attic. The kitchen cold water was frozen and the bathroom hot water was frozen. My husband spent about two hours trying to get them to thaw. They finally did and the sound of running water filled the house. It was a beautiful sound. Especially since we all needed showers. I found it humorous that the hot water was fine in the kitchen, giving me no excuse not to wash my dishes.
Now Rich is in the attic insulating the pipes that froze. Hopefully it will do the trick because it doesn't look like we will get above the single digits for a while. Also it was so cold this morning that our backdoor had ice on the hinges, inside the house! I guess now we know where that draft was coming from. HeHe!
My Siberian Husky is absolutely loving the weather. She wanted out this morning with our Chocolate Lab named Buddy. He was back at the door in about three minutes but she wasn't. I know that huskies can handle colder weather so I let her stay out. After about a half hour I went out to find her sleeping in the snow. I had to pull her in and she didn't want to come in. She kept trying to pull away to stay outside. I think she was so numb that she didn't realize just how cold it was.
It makes me think how many people are like my Husky. They are drawn to the things they think they can handle (SIN) and then after a while they don't realize how harmful the situation has really become for them. They even become numb to the danger all around them and don't ask for help. Even when you try to help them see the trouble they are in they want to pull away from you to go right back into the same environment. Then one day God comes along and pulls them from their environment. They may seem hesitant for a moment but still they follow him slowly. He places them in an environment that is warm and sheltered. But still even after they are out of the cold it takes a while for them to warm up. I am so thankful for a God who sees where we are and pulls us from the cold of the world even before we know we are in any danger at all.
