I am working on creating in both of my children and attitude of gratitude. I think that in our society today most people have lost the art of sending a Thank you Cards to someone who has touched your life in a special way. I am not just talking about sending a Thank you Cards to someone who has given us a gift. Of course after a birthday would be the best time to send a Thank You. But there are the times that someone deserves a thank you simply for being a good friend.
I will admit that I have overlooked this area plenty, and in turn my children haven't learned to send thank you's. Sure, they are thankful. They say thank you in person.
But one day I received a card in the mail just for being a good friend and it really brightened my whole day. You never know what kind of day that person you sent a card to was having. We all have days where we fell unappreciated and taken for granted. Every mom has known those feelings in their life. How powerful it would be if it was your Thank you card that helped turn that persons day around.
There is so much blessing in such a simple act as sending a card. I really want to encourage my children to think of someone to send a thank you to just for being who they are. In this fast paced, e-mail world we need to take a minute and handwrite a note to let people know how much they mean to us, even if we think they already know.
