Off with the Roof

Posted in Family

There were some pretty loud downpours here this morning which kept Rich from work since he is was to be working outside today.  So we went back to bed for some much needed extra sleep.

It's a good thing that Rich is home today because he is helping my brother in law tear off his roof and replace it.  Hopefully without getting too wet as there is rain in the forecast.  Nonetheless this is the weekend to do the roof.  So they'll have to work fast to get everything off today and the roof covered before the rain comes tonight.

I am headed over there shortly as well.  I'm not sure what they'll have me doing, but I remember when we did our roof last year, and every bit helps.  Even if all you can do is refill water bottles or pick up garbage.

Putting on a new roof has to be THE hardest job.  Especially when there are really only 2 guys doing it.  Good thing is that my brother in law has a few kind folks from church and work who are coming to help.  That will make tearing off the roof so much easier.  You know the old proverb "Many hands make light work"  its so true in a situation like this.  I am praying that this job will go easily and without too many unforeseen problems.  You know you can't tell what's going to need to be replaced until you get everything off and can look at it.

Ahhh. Roofing. I went on a service project trip to Florida when I was in college. We spent part of our time ripping off a roof with snow shovels. Someone else got to deal with finishing the job.

Hope the job went smoothly and easily. :')
