I think one of the greatest parts of childhood is being able to pretend you are whoever you want to be.  This is so much easier when you have stuff that you can play dress up in.  Costumes  are not just for Halloween.  In fact I always loved to wait until after Halloween whan all the leftover costumes were over half off.  I let my kids wear their dress up clothes pretty much whenever they wanted to.  Richie was known to go to the grocery store with his puppy dog costume on.  I say let them play make believe and dress up in costumes for as long as they will.  Because trust me, there comes a day when your teenager will not put on a Barney costume again.

I especially love historical costumes.
