I was sitting here this morning and suddenly I remembered a quirky little thing that Kalene did when she was about 6 months old.
I needed to get some things done around the house, so I put her in her walker. She really didn't want to be left in the walker and she was letting me know it. I can't remember what was so important now that I needed to get the housework done. So I just left her in the walker in the same room as me.
She fussed a bit. That didn't work. She cried a little. That didn't work. Then I hear the smallest little cough come from her and I rushed over pulled her out of the walker and proceeded to check her out to make sure everything was alright. Once I was sure that she wasn't choking or anything I put her back in the walker and continued to do my work.
About 15 minutes later she coughed again. The scene I wrote about above played out again in its entirety. This went on for a couple of hours before it finally hit me what was happening. Although it may have been an accident the first time she coughed and got my full attention. She realized that she had just struck gold. All she had to do was cough and I'd come running. And it worked too for about 2 hours straight.
That is one smart girl let me tell you. Is it really possible for a baby to be such a mastermind? Or is this common? Do you have a story like this one to share?
