I have set a new goal this year to get rid of all of the credit cards that we have. The very first step of course was figuring out a plan that would make accomplishing that goal a real possibility. We had aquired quite a bit of debt over the last couple of years. Some of it was personal debt. And some of it was debt we took on while running our business. It does not really matter where the debt came from. Debt is debt. And I hate debt.
We looked at all kinds of options to get us out of the hole we were quickly digging for ourselves. We thought about everything from taking out a loan against our house to balance transfer credit cards. But we chose not to take either of those routes. Instead we decided to just chisel away at the mountain of debt.
So for the past couple of months we have worked really hard at eliminating as much of that debt as possible. First we started with our lowest credit card balance and sent them any extra we had each month. Once that card was gone then we moved on to the next one. With our tax return we were able to wipe out most of the debt that we had left. Now with all that debt gone we can focus on other goals like an emergency savings account. That would have really come in handy with all the unforeseen car and truck repairs we have had pop up lately.
I am determined to never be in that situation again!
