Post Office Food Drive

Posted in My Faith

We spent part of our day at church working the Post Office Food Drive.

Ever wonder what happens to all of the food the mail carriers pick up off your porches every year?  Well our church gets the food that is collected from our neighborhood.  It is a lot of food!  We bag it up and give it away to the folks who come to our annual Day of Hope celebration.  You can see photos from last year here

Kalene managed to get a few pictures.

It was a lot of work.  But we worked as a team and got it all done.

To whom do you advertise the Day of Hope? Is there a way to know for sure they need help? I suppose that if I want to get my kids and myself involved in this we would just contact our local PO?

Oh, and by the way, my family just opened an ice cream shop at Yates. It's a little pricey so it won't help with your money saving but it is the best atmosphere around for having ice cream! You can walk along the river trail - it's beautiful! Can't get that at Dairy Queen! If you plan ahead to go, leave me a comment and I'll try to meet you there!

Wonderful!!!!

Our area has really made huge strides in hunger here. The mail carriers' collection is just one more step. I'm so glad this need for food is noticed and trying to be addressed.

What a blessing!

Happy Mother's Day, friend!

Nice shots. Thanks for getting them up. I got stuck taking two of my kids to the Hoedown with Pastor Ken and between that and handling another matter that came up while I was there I didn't get any shots. As much as I "love" country music, I think I would have much rather finished the afternoon out at the church instead of going to the Hoedown.

Thank you for the Mother's Day wish. Happy Mother's Day to you as well. Your pictures reminded me .. that I forgot the PO food drive... I don't know where that bag went that we had laying here. Don't I feel terrible...

I do hope you had a nice Mom's Day.
