My Day

Posted in Family

I just got home from a used book sale that I went to in search of some super cheap (or Free) curriculum for next year. I spent $ 13 altogether. I got a set of Lifepac Language Arts workbooks, Writing Strands, and Megawords for Richie. I also picked up 2 Activity books all about electricity because Richie was just asking if he could learn about that. I got a 2 Histoy Houghton Mifflin textbooks, a Social Studies Houghton Mifflin textbook, and 2 water testing kits. So all in all I think I did alright.

Then on the way home we stopped and picked up some MacDonalds, so much for eating healthier. We took our food to a nice park and had a picnic. Our picnic didn't last very long at all. This was for a few reasons. 1. It was cold and we'd left our jackets in the car. 2. There was an angry mob of squirrels who were plotting different ways to attack us and steal our food. I'm not joking these were some highly intellegent rodents. The kept following us. I'm pretty sure they were trying out some type of mental warfare on us. 3. The park was quite muddy from the rains we've had the last 2 days. Not exactly ideal picnic conditions. So we ate quickly and high tailed it back to the warm car.

Now I'm back at home for a little while. My brother in law is leaving tonight to join the Navy. Regardless of how you feel about the war, what these young men are doing is sacrificing themselves to uphold our way of life. To me he is just about the bravest person I have ever met. This is actually the second time he was to leave. He was scheduled to leave back right before Christmas. But the morning he was to be sworn in, they said he couldn't go. He cut his head open about 3 weeks prior to that and they wanted to make sure it was completely healed first. So he has just been waiting until there were enough guys ready to go to basic training.

Sounds like your book sale went well. $13 for several books is great.
Sorry about your picnic, those squirrels can be quite cunning!
Prayers for your brother-in-law.
Corey
