I have noticed that I've been getting a ton of strange phone call. Usually from out of state. They're always some unknown number usually from out of state. Florida seems to be a popular place to call me from. Since I won't answer a call if I even think its from a telemarketer, I always wonder Who Just Called. You know what if it was a "real" phone call? But it never is.
I was not sure why all of a sudden I started getting so many. Then I read somewhere that if you registered on the Do Not Call registry, it is actually only good for a certain amount of time. So I think that the answer is that my registration has expired. I need to get back on the No Call List.
So if you registered when it first started you may want to check to make sure that your regitration is still valid.

Somewhere online you can download a script for dealing with telemarketers. Essentially you take over the conversation, and start asking them questions. If they don't want to answer, you ask them why they don't want to give personal answers to a complete stranger on the phone? It gave me a chuckle, but it's been translated into several languages and people really do use it. They reckon some telemarketers have changed jobs after being confronted with it.
Wait - I found it! The anti-telmarketing script! http://www.xs4all.nl/~egbg/counterscript.html

It is probably political in nature. My number was on the do not call registry, but we still received calls from political campaigns. Now we only use our cell phones. Much more peaceful. Even when you don't answer the "unknown name" calls, it takes time to get up and find your phone.
