It Was Like Christmas

Posted in Family

After having half of our belongings in storage for almost a year I have to admit that I wasn't all to thrilled when we had to go and pull it all out again the other night.

It was only supposed to be a temporary thing.  You know we fully expected that our house would sell in a month or two.  But last month we had to come to the realization that maybe we weren't going to move until it was Gods timing for us to do so.  Each month we faithfully paid that almost $80 bill!  No more. So we loaded it all into Rich's tailer and there it'll stay until we have some extra time to go through it all. There is no way it's all coming back into this house.

Now I know that most of the boxes are filled with books.  I've decided that I don't actually need all of those books.  I just love them so that I didn't want to part with them.  But since I've packed them all up and shipped them off I've learned that I can get just about any book I own through the library.  And they store them for me!  So I am hoping to find a used homeschool booksale this fall to sell of some of the extra "stuff" I've accumulated.  I have curriculum that I know I won't be using with Richie.

Some of the stuff that I found in storage were things I thought I could sacrifice using for a month or two like my dustbuster.  It's amazing how many things we can store up for ourselves without realizing that we are doing it.  Even Kalene and Richie were saying things like I don't even need this anymore.  So I'm planning on having a garage sale at my sisters house this year.  Let just see how much I keep.

For the stuff we did miss, it was like Christmastime when we started looking into some of the boxes.  Kalenes cardmaking supplies, Richies stuffed animals, and my Square Foot Gardening book (the only book I haven't been able to get through the library, can't figure it out).

Jun. 5, 2008 - paperbackswap

Posted by Kristina

Have you used paperbackswap? I don't know if you would want to use it since you're wanting to get rid of books, but if there are books you want, you could put your books on paperbackswap and get some new books in exchange. It's a thought. Also, you could probably sell a lot of them on Amazon if you're interested.

Jun. 5, 2008 - I know what you mean about the books...

I hate to part with them also. I have an attic so we store most of our 'extra' stuff up there. I've been thinking the same thing about a used curriculum sale. I'm going to one tomorrow, but have no one to help haul our stuff, so I'll be shopping, not selling. I hope to get a few families together to have one in our area this fall.
