I received the coolest gift yesterday. I was standing in the back of my yard showing Rich all the work we did yesterday and I looked up and saw three yellow finches on the telephone line. We have never had finches. We live in what I would call between urbania and suburbania. So we don't usually get all that many varieties of birds. We love to birdwatch, so this was a thrilling moment for us. They hung out in the tree forever. So I guess I should buy some food to keep them around.

Some of the birds that we have had around here pretty regularly are bluebirds, cardinals, pigeon, doves, starlings, robins, and woodpeckers. Last year I saw a hummingbird in my front yard for the first time. It also was a gift to me. So, I guess my question is what do I feed these finches?
