Broken Toilet Blessing

Posted in Family

The other night Rich flushed the toilet and that water would not go down.  At first we thought maybe it was a backed up drain.  But thankfully it was a much cheaper fix than that.  The wax ring that creates an airtight seal was bad.

Since Rich was already going to need to take the toilet out to repair that problem, he asked if I would like a new bathroom floor.  Would I?  Of course I would.  Right now we have peel and stick tile in there which is nice, but I would love to have ceramic tile.

We went to the store and found our shower tile in floor tile size.  When we began tearing up the old floor we were surprised to find how much mold there was underneath.  It spelled so bad.  Rich painted the floor with a sealer to prevent mold from growing again.  So after seeing what was underneath I was even more Glad that the toilet broke and Rich offered a new floor.  The old familiar mold smell is now GONE!

I'll show pictures later when I figure out how to get them off my cellphone.  Kalene was gone with my camera.  I have to get that girl her own camera so I can have mine back :-)

They go to fix one thing and we end of with something new. Isn't it wonderful? Lucky, you. I'm green with envy.(lol) Now how can I fix it so I get my kitchen floor? Maybe a leaky drain? lol
I'm looking forward to seeing how your bathroom turned out.

Oh dear! Those things that are mixed blessings...

I'm so glad you're going to get a new floor and more lovely bathroom out of the deal, but better is the mold problem averted.

We will likely be messing with our bathroom very soon. I found tile at a rummage sale, and I hope to get it put in as soon as possible. Of course, now I'm terrified to pull up the peel and stick tile. :'O

I agree with Jen, 'tis better to have the mold problem avarted! We have peel and stick tile in our bathroom, and they are starting to come up, and along with that is that lingering smell. Sometimes it smells like someone has been smoking in there. YUCK!

How wonderful that you will be getting a new floor. I can't wait to see the before and after pics!

Blessings~
Laura
