Free Geography Resource

Posted in Free Stuff

Knowledge Quest is once again offering their Geography book Globalmania as a free download.  I downloaded it the last time it was made available and was very impressed with what I saw.  I am planning on using it with Richie possibly this year.  If you are looking for a geography resource for your children you will not be disappointed by this one.  And it doen't get any better than FREE!

Freebie Friday

Posted in Free Stuff

Today is Freebie Friday and there really are some great freebies out right now.

From Money Saving Mom:

* If you go to this site you can register to receive one or two coupons for a free TV Converter Box.  All TV's will need these beginning February 2009.  It is a super quick sign up and they'll send your coupons within a few days to be used within 90 days of getting them in the mail.

* Get a free 3 month supply of flea and tick medicine from Bio Spot after filling this very short form.  I have 2 dogs and can tell you this stuff can be very expensive, so I was glad to be getting 3 months free!  I do believe that this is for cats and dogs.

*Spitz Sunflower Seeds

And from Freebies 4 Mom ~

"Get a free pack of Stride Gum after going through a mock court case "People vs. Stride" on their website (hint: I selected "Settle" to get to the free sample form, if you select "Sue" it takes you to the entry form for a contest with only 11 winners). It's a bit silly (and you might want to turn the volume down), but just click through the screens to get to the request form and you can choose from Sweet Berry, Sweet Cinnamon, or Always Mandarin. Stride says they will mail you your full pack of gum in 4 to 6 weeks."

There's the freebies for the week.  I think that there is a little something for everyone in this list.

Homeschool Freebie

Kalene read the book Rip Van Winkle a couple of years ago and she really liked it.  It is a great story for anyone to hear.  And now thanks to Robert Green you can "hear" it.  Rip Van Winkle is his latest edition of You Need A Story.  So now you can hear it too. Here is what Robert Green has written on his site about Rip Van Winkle.

"In a hidden glen of the Catskill mountains, lazy Rip Van Winkle stumbles onto strange, solemn old men bowling at Nine Pins. He makes the mistake of sampling some of their liquor and wakes up to find himself a great deal farther along in his life!

Masterfully told by Washington Irving, this is one of the best known of the great tales in American literature"

The Master Plan Contest

Posted in Free Stuff

Karen over at For Such A Time As This is having a neat contest on her blog.  I know that many of us may be settling into the relaxed days of summer.  But if you are a homeschooling mom then you are bound to start thinking about next years plan soon if you aren't already.  I started planning for next year a couple of months agolargely in part because I was going to be going to a couple of used curriculum fairs and needed to know what I was looking for.  But the area that I need help in the most is organization.  I tend to just want to let things flow.  I think it is a great way of homeschooling.  However, the rest of life tends to suffer when I am just going with the flow.  The giveaway for Karens contest is for The Master Plan

The Master Plan - cover jpg.

This looks to be an excellant tool for anyone.  So head on over to her blog and enter for yourself.  But you'd better hurry, the contest ends tonight at midnight!  She'll be announcing the winner tomarrow.

Homeschool Freebie

Posted in Free Stuff

This homeschool freebie comes from the fine folks at CurrClick.  I love this company.  They have so many wonderful products available.  I can be a pretty spontaneous person at times.  Which is another reason I love this company.  When I want to get the perfect addition to our lessons for the day, I can order it from CurrClick and I don't have to wait for it to get here.  In about five minutes I can order it, download it, print it, and use it right away.  Pretty cool huh?

What's cooler than that is the fact that each week they offer one of their products for free.  This week they are offering a The Declaration of Independence Copywork Notebook.  I'm going to go ahead and download it and save it to use with Richie next year.  I have been able to get a free Speedy Spanish workbook and Math Mammoth workbook.  So go ahead and get your copy before the week is up and they charge $14.99.

You can order your copy by clicking on the CurrClick button below.

The Next Signature Creation

Is there anyone who has not heard about Cold Stone Creamery?

They are hosting a contest that is open to all kids ages 13-19.

I know that there has been another contest recently that has really got the homeschool community a little bit upset.  I will not mention any names as they have reportedly "apologized" in their own way.  But I did want to let you know that this contest is open to all people ages 13-19!

What is the contest you ask?

Well they are looking for the next Cold Stone Creamery Signature Creation.  How cool would it be to not only come up with the newest Signature Creation, but to actually be able to go to the shop and buy it for you and all of your friends with the $30,000+ in prizes your child will receive if their creation is the winning choice?

So what kind of ideas do you have brewing in that creative mind of yours?

I think that it would be so cool if a homeschooled kid were to enter this Awesome Cold Stone Contest and win!  So don't hesitate, get creating today.  The deadline for all submissions is June 5, 2008.

All you have to do is come up with a creation using any of the ingredients found at any Cold Stone Creamery.  Have your friends or family try it and then vote for it online.

Sounds easy enough!
