Groundhog Day

Posted in Just for Fun

I have had a feeling of excitement all morning. There was no real explanation for it. Just a random feeling.

Or so I thought. Do you know that today the furry little rodent who comes out every year to predict how much longer it will be until Spring was hesitant to come out. I don't blame him one bit. It has been freezing lately!

But once he was coaxed enough he did indeed come out. And he did NOT see his shadow!

Now, I always got confused by this. To me it would seem logical that if he saw his shadow that would indicate that the sun was out and a sign that it was going to start warming up. But that is not the case at all. That actually would mean 6 more weeks of winter!

Contrary to what I would have thought, the groundhog did NOT see his shadow, and according to tradition this means that we are going to have an early spring.

Yahoo! This is why I was having a feeling of excitement all morning. The hope of an early spring is exciting!

Okay, so this was not the famous Punxsutawney Phil groundhog. He saw his shadow and says 6 more weeks. But I am choosing to listen to the other guy since I saw his prediction and could really use the hope of an early spring right about now.

Personalized Gift Cards

Posted in Just for Fun

Here is a genius idea for giving a gift that anyone would love to have.  I love to give giftcards for any occassion. I just figure that you can't go wrong with giving cash.  But being the person that I am, I do not like the idea of just handing over some money and calling it a gift.  To me, although totally practical, giving money does not feel to personal.  It takes no thought to grab a giftcard and throw it in an envelope.  But, now I find out that you can completely personalize the giftcard.  Now this is something I can deal with.  It is like the best of both worlds.  It is so practical yet still personal as well.  You can choose to have any picture you would like on the  Gift Cards.  Out of town grandparents would love a card with a picture of the grandkids on it.  The ideas are endless.  Anyways I wish I would have found this before Father's Day.  Oh well, there is always next year.

Uplifting Father's Day Idea

Posted in Just for Fun

Last year around Mother's Day we had thought about taking a trip to Niagara Falls.  And stopping in New York City to see the sights.  Unfortunately we were not able to go at the time due to certain circumstances.  But how cool would it have been to be able to go.  And more than that to see the city from a NYC helicopter tour high above the city.  It would be spectacular I am guessing.  You can buy gift certificates from Xperience Days for several different types of helicopter tours depending on the recipient and what kind of experience they are looking for.  This would make a great gift for any father for Father's day whichis right around the corner.  the other great thing is that the recipient of the gift can use it at their own convenience.

Need A Good Laugh?

Posted in Just for Fun

I am amazed at how much the Reader's Digest has to offer.  Really I keep finding out more and more of the diverse topics that are at the website.  There are uplifting stories and parenting tips.  And now I find out that they have a whole section to make you laugh.  And let's just admit that we all could use a good laugh these days.

There are so many funny jokes and stand up comedy videos.  Maybe you have a son like mine who thinks he is a comedian.  There is no end to the amount of material he can find at this site.   You can actually watch the comedy acts on your computer.  Maybe you just need some new material because the same knock knock jokes are getting a bit old.  This is one of my favorite jokes they have.

You can find all the material that your funny little heart can desire by going to the RD Laughs Main page.  Once there you will see that the topics are easy to navigate.  I absolutely adore the Cute Pets gallery.  You can't help but smile when you look through the photos in there.

There are jokes galore.  You can even submit your own jokes if you would like to.  They have cartoons that are pretty funny.  And the comedy acts are hilarious.  You can even sign up for a jokes newsletter.

So if you are in need of a little bit of laughter check it out.

(Not) Wordless Wednesday

Posted in Just for Fun

Of course I have a great Wordless Wednesday post all ready for you.  I posted it at my other blog This Side of Eternity.  But it is so cute that I feel that I need to post it here too.

This is a picture of my garage.  Well if you look closely you'll see my dog poking here head out fromunder the garage door.  The question of the day was how in the world did she get in there?  I thought about it all day.  I realized today that Richie must have unknowingly closed up the garage with her still in there.  Our garage is so full of tools and equipment that its very possible for a dog to get lost in there.  The good thing is she is out now and very happy to be.
