Mondays on Mothering - Laughing

I enjoy the research and planning part of homeschooling. As I was preparing for school this year- looking at what had and hadn't worked from the past, checking out catalogs and internet resources-all of a sudden my "to do" list was becoming more important than the "with whom" and "for Whom" list. I realized that I was again missing out on the fun of homeschooling. How do you schedule in fun?
I committed to enjoy my children more this year, and I know the only one who can help you attain new goals concerning the heart is the Lord. I have made it a goal to have more fun, to appreciate their goofy humor and to just laugh more! My morning prayers often include "Help me to have fun with my kids today, Lord."
What have I been enjoying? Caedon's attempts to joke and "play" on words; Eden and Regan giggling together like sisters should; Sierra being the big helper and noticing cute aspects of her younger siblings; sharing the comics and political jokes with Seth. And it's great when they "get" a joke, but I really love it when they "get" something from God; that's what I'm most in awe of.

Post your own Mondays on Mothering (a meme for you), telling what you enjoy about mothering, then link back to Bow of Bronze.

Aww, I think that is an excellent thing to pray for! When you can say yes (or in this case laugh) then do! :)

What a wonderful prayer! I am convicted again this year to get out and do more cool stuff like field trips and just plain fun. It is a challenge, being pregnant, sick and busy; but I know it is worth it.
Thanks for joining us this week! Amy B

i think the greatest part of homeschooling is the ability to laugh and learn together. I am sure with this as your pray, that you and the kids will have a great year!
I appreciate your comment on my Voting article. :) thanks!

Thanks for this thought this week. I needed to hear that. Also, back to the comment you left on my blog last week--I actually found a 5+ yard long piece of stretchy knit fabric in the fabric bin at the thrift store the other day. Thanks for the tip! I folded it in half and was able to wrap it around me, then place my chunky 22 pounder in it and wear him. It does work, and it is much less weight/pressure than using a standard baby sling which is slung over one shoulder! The fabric is looking like it might be pulling and fraying slightly on the outside ends, though. I'm wondering, did you go ahead and hem it all the way around? It is green, sort of sagey to khaki-like in tone, if you want to swap one you've made for one of these, btw. Just a thought; I started thinking it might be fun to swap some of these around so we get different colors and fabric patterns too. Again, thanks for the tip!

I too have challenged myself to just enjoy my children and have more fun this year but, I needed your reminder. That is a great prayer:) I'm vowing to cherish these moments I have with them even more.
