Homeschool Group: Co-op Nov.2007
Dec. 10, 2007 • 4:04 PM
We have our monthly co-op this week and as I was preparing things for it, I realized I never posted about last month's co-op day. So... here it is.
We started off reading many of the Creative Writing assignments and continued reading them throughout the day at the times when teachers were changing and starting the next classes. These kids truly have become Creative writers!
Our English from the Roots up was on the root word: metron
The body class was on the brain. It is in two parts but this month was focused on the brain, spinal cord and introduction to nerves.
Here are the photos:

Here is one of the worksheets from their notebooks showing the parts of the brain!

While the older children had the Body Class, the littler ones had a class about Thanksgiving. We did a book on tape and they colored a paper with the verse "Give thanks to the Lord". Psalm 136:1

They watched the Precious Moments Thanksgiving movie while each child came one by one to do a handprint painting. Here are my two little ones with their paintings!

In the Nutrition and Meal Planning class, the children decided on upcoming meals. We had a mini-Thanksgiving meal this month of chicken drumsticks, mashed potatoes, corn pudding, green bean casserile, cranberry relish, apple sauce, apple crisp, rolls, pumpkin muffins, and apple cider! It was very tasty! In January the children will start working together to prepare our lunches there!
The kids played some recreational group games for phys.ed. We ended with an art class where the children learned about Winslow Homer and then painted their own oceanscape.
Here is "Panda" and her painting:

You know, you really should put up a "warning". Like "don't look before meals", or "make sure foods are digested before looking". lol.
I think its really neat that they brought in a real brain. Pictures in a book just isn't the same thing.

Wow! The pictures of the brain are awesome. Where did you get it? I would love to do this with my daughter next year in Biology. Amazing.
