Tot School: puzzles, hug, fishing, beads
May. 26, 2008 • 3:53 PM

We had a lot of fun this week with our Tot School!
The beginning of the week had some Lincoln log building on the car mats.

Another day, they enjoyed playing with the new 99cents puzzles I got them. They were pretty goofy but we had a fun time. Can you tell?...

Later that day, all the children went outside to play! The little ones had fun doing this...

...and this is one of my favorite photos this week!...

This week we also had our homeschool group's co-op day! The L.A.M.B.S (Learning And Memorizing Bible Stories) class I teach includes both of my own toddlers! I started class putting clear things on the table and ask how all those things are alike. (They are clear- can see through them) Then we played memory with those things. I then had them look closely at one child. That child left the room and I ask them... was the child a boy or girl?
What color was his/her shirt, shorts, etc.? How many hairs are on his head?
Then I showed them some X-rays and how it lets us see through the skin to the bones. And, I showed them a photo of an X-ray fish. We then did these sheets (both from Danielle's Place.com)

The verse is "O Lord, thou hast searched me and known me." I told them how the Lord can see through everything and knows everything- even the hairs on everyone's heads. He has no limitations. He can even see everything in the blackest of night!
The fish coloring picture was neat. It was two layers. The bottom page had the bones. The kids colored the page and we then rubbed oil over the fish (top page) and the bones showed up! They loved it!
Then at the end of this week...
We got to go fishing with our church group. It was a lot of fun. The older children did most of the fishing with daddy and with friends. "Peanut" did get to give it a try though, too! His older brother helps him at first ...then he tries flying solo!

"Peanut" also got to go out in a row boat with daddy, some siblings and a friend! He really liked that! ("Peanut" is in the middle.)

It was a great day!
Then I found this fishing Alphabet coloring book while looking for things for our upcoming ocean themed lapbook! He will enjoy this next week!
There was also a beading activity for "Precious" who wanted to do this too when her older sister was making a necklace with a new Shrinky Dink pendant she made at our homeschool co-op day!

"Precious" beaded large beads onto a pipe cleaner!

We had a wonderful week of Tot School but even more so we had a wonderful week together as a family! I am so thankful for that!
My prayers are with the Steven Curtis-Chapman family who didn't have this privelege this week! What deep sorrow they must feel! We've been praying for them and others that I recently heard have lost loved ones unexpectantly!
Don't forget to check out the other Tot School participants!
