Show & Tell: Collage Journal Covers!

May. 30, 2008 • 9:51 AM

Show & Tell Friday with Canadagirl!

For today's show and tell I am going to show my older girls sewing journals.

They have sewing lessons with a sweet older sister in Christ (from our church). They sew together and read a story over homemade cookies. The girls also keep a journal book where they just put the date and what project they are working on. They also usually glue a fabric swatch on the page. Then take a photo of their finished creation and glue that in as well!

We decided to make them a little cuter and collage pictures onto the front. We also added some fun sewing pictures or stickers throught! It made the journals prettier and even nicer to look through!

Before:

After:

We plan to make covers like these on other plain journal books and use them as daily journals! Even my son wants to do a boyish one and write something little each day!!

Such an awesome idea and they did a great job. That will definately be on our 'to do' list for the summer. Thanks for the inspiration. You're so clever.

What a GREAT memory keeper ! Do the girls take pictures of what they made too ? That would take it to another level of record keeping. I hope to adopt two girls one day. ((praying ))

Thank you soooooo much for sharing such a great idea !

Blessings and ((hugs)) my SSiC

These are awesome! When my gals started sewing we did a journal also. It is precious to look back on and see how their choices of fabric and styles have changed as well as see how well they have learned.

Ooo great idea! I bet my boys would love that!

I don't have any modge podge but I do have Elmer's Glue... and if my recollection from VBS is correct, I think it'll work. I think... I may have to google it to be sure. :-)

Those are so neat! My dd is learning to sew, but's slow going. A regular 'class' would be nice!

I love this idea. My five year old has a composition notebook that we use for nature journaling and writing practice. What a lovely way to decorate a simple book. Blessings!
