Motivational Monday: Galatians
Oct. 6, 2008 • 1:08 PM

I haven't done a Motivational Monday post in quite awhile so I decided to post my

from yesterday as the message was quite an encouragement to me! I hope it may encourage your heart as well and remind you to find peace through God's grace!
The message was on Galations 1.
Galatians: a favorite book of Martin Luther
In Galatians1- Paul writes to the churches (more than one church) in Galatia. These people knew and loved Paul. Paul started these churches.
People had been coming into these churches teaching the believers there that they needed more than faith to continue their salvation- wrong doctrine! These people wanted to put believers under law. (Many still want that today.)
Within the verses in this chapter there are 8 reoccurring words- 4 couplets of opposites:
Bondage (mentioned 6 times)---- liberty (3 times)
Grace (7 times) -------------------- law (32 times)
Works (5 times) ------------------- Faith (21 times)
Flesh (17 times) -------------------- Spirit (18 times)
We enter GRACE by FAITH. GRACE brings LIBERTY- through the SPIRIT of God.
Christianity is a religion based NOT on works!
This book divides into 3 sections:
Verses 1 & 2: auto biographical of Paul, personal
Verses 3 & 4: doctrinal, Faith –NOT law!
Verses 5 & 6: liberty & bondage, these verses tell us how to live
Chapter 1- vs. 1 reminds them that Paul is an apostle. Paul reestablishes his authority. He is an apostle, not through man, but through God the Father.
Vs. 2” He has brethren with him (others stand also with Paul)
If wrong doctrine gets into a group of churches, it can spread like a disease.
Vs.3 “Grace to you and peace from God the Father, our Lord Jesus Christ.” This was a common greeting but meaningful!
We need grace DAILY in our lives!
If we rely on ourselves without God, this leads to failure. We need God’s grace operating in our lives.
I Cor. 15:10:
God’s Grace gives us strength and ability.
2 Tim. 2:1 “Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.”
2 Corn. 12:9: Paul has a thorn in flesh-
God’s grace is sufficient for you. (In Paul’s weakness, he needed God’s grace!)
When we are weak- then the grace of God can work!
When we are weak- we can be strong! (We more easily give it over to the Lord!)
Titus 2:11- grace of God- ongoing work- teaching us to deny worldly lusts
James 4:16: Here, the believers are struggling with issues.
He gives more grace. God gives grace to the humble!
If we think we can do it all on our own, God will let us until we call for Him. (Why don’t we just go to him first- before we run out of gas or get lost!)
Peace is a result of grace!
When God’s grace is operating, it brings a peace.
We realize we are weak and humbled and we allow God’s grace to work through us! Then we have peace in these situations daily!
God’s grace brought us to salvation and operates daily! Praise the Lord!

Don’t take it for granted! THINK about God’s grace, be humble and thankful!
It is a blessing in our lives!
Gal. 1 vs. 4: The Lord Jesus Christ gave himself for our sins! The purpose is that He might deliver us from “this present evil age”. Verse 4 is not speaking of Hell- but of this age- the system of the world. He can deliver us from the influences of this evil world.
He can rescue us! Rescue: delivering someone from trouble
God’s grace delivers us from this age- as well as from Hell!
Rom. 12:2 “Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable perfect will of God.”
Satan blinds the minds of people. As time rolls on, we lose sight on what evil is- the world tried hard to desensitize us. We need to think about the things we take part in and occupy our minds with.
The Lord has invested in each and every one of us!
Allow the Lord to work in our lives, allowing his grace DAILY, be a shining light giving glory to the Lord!
Here is a great song I came across last night when visiting blog friends before bed. These girls are daughters of my blog friend Angela's pastor. I found the video on one of her friend's blogs though (Have I confused you yet?) Well, just listen to the song. These girls have quite a gift from the Lord and I am glad to see they are using it FOR the Lord as well!
