One of My Science Mania Cool Things

Today I got to do a science experiment. I made a water wheel. I made it by cutting out 9 egg carton cups and 2 poster board circles. Then I stapled the cups on to the poster board circles. Then I got two huge yard sticks , some clay, a dowel, two spools, and some modeling clay (and some tape). Then I took the wheel part (the egg carton cups and poster board circles) and put a hole in the center of that. I put the dowel through that hole. Next I put the spools on either side of the wheel, through the dowel. Then I put the yard sticks on a bowl. I put clay on the ends of the dowel so it would not slide out of the spools. I taped the spools to the yardsticks. Then I poured water into my water wheel.

It spilled on my pants when my wheel turned around.

Here is a picture.

Feb. 23, 2006 - GREAT JOB

What a great water wheel. I could tell by your description and your picture that you put a lot of thought into your design. How long did it take to make it? Sorry to hear about the water on your pants, but that is a small price to pay for so much progress.
