God's Science Kid

• Nov. 27, 2009 - My Mother Surprises Me

Posted By SammyJo

Alright, here's a little story:

I was standing in the kitchen talking to my dad about something that was out in the shed. Mom came walking in, stopped and kissed my dad, then said we needed a vacation. This was 2-3 days before Christmas. The house was a reck. Nothing was prepared for Thanksgiving dinner. And, miraculously, she was smiling. I laughed my head off, while my dad asked her where she wanted to go. The next evening, everything was the same as the day before. We had two days until Thanksgiving, nothing prepared, and the sun was going down. Mom was on the couch with her laptop and the phone. Micah and Caroline were still taking naps. Shelby and I came in from playing medival princesses, and flopped down on the couch next to her, and looked at her computer screem. She was on the phone with dad, and she told us we were going to rent a cabin in Tennessee. So, on Sunday, two days after Thanksgiving, we're going to the Smokies to have a freezing, rainfilled vacation. This is the life.

Hi ya'll!

Thanksgiving is just around the corner!!

Here's the tag Tanglefur did, and now I'm going to do it:

2 Go to page twelve in the book

3 Read the first two sentences and post it on your blog

4 Also post the book title and the name of the author

5 Tag 3 other People : )

My answer:

"Then she stepped off the nest and entered the water. She took several quick drinks." ~The Trumpet of the Swan by E.B. White(It's really in my sister's A Beka reading book for school!)

I tag msmarla(IF she ever sees this!), Sciencekid(see not after msmarla), and katiemf(same as for msmarla and Sciencekid).......I think I need to go friend hunting....

• Nov. 22, 2009 - New Blog

Posted By Brett

I am going to start a new profile for a motre specialized blog. Yes, I know I tried the new blog thing before, but this time I'll actually post on this one. I also realize that I post seldom on this one. I will try to change that. In a few weeks I should be able, if people are interested, to post my 4233 word paper on masculinity using Pride and Prejudice and the Bible. Just remember, I will not be me on this new blog. Here is the profile name and address: HalfElvenBard and http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/talesofthebards/ Add me as a friend, preferably if I know you.

• Nov. 18, 2009 - Zach

Posted By SammyJo

Well, I did it. I made friends with Zach. He's the tom-cat that's been coming around and terrorizing Amy and Meg. I mean, I might as well make friends with him since my mother's feeding him behind my back, and for that reason, I can't seem to get rid of him. So, now I'm feeding him........and cuddling him........and dong my schoolwork outside so he can sit on my lap and we can both get warm........It's been in the 40's all day all week, so, there is a reason why I said "to get warm". He's a big cat. As big(or bigger)than a small dog; and eyes a little bigger than quarters. Yes, he's a big cat. And he's pitch black. It's funny, when we lived here before, we had all white and brown cats, with an occasional black/gray one. But we've never had pure black ones! And now we have two! And they're gorgeous! Ok, so maybe Zach can stick around for a bit......

My answer:

"I suppose you will all stay to supper?" he said in his politest unpressing tones.

     "Of course!" said Thorin.

The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

And I tag three people who read this if I have that many.

• Nov. 16, 2009 - Rain? I'm Not So Sure...

Posted By SammyJo

Today was music lessons, and that went well.  Everybody's been saying that it's gonna rain today, but it's 3:00 in the afternoon, and I havn't seen a single drop. Not to mention clouds...oh, wait, there's a few SMALL gray clouds out there. Oh, well. I didn't smell any rain commin'.....Anyway, I got pictures of Amy and Meg, and now I just need my mom to load them onto the compy, then her dropshots account, then my blog on my sidebar, under my picture of the Maggster. And of course she doesn't have time for that. Well, I think that's really it for now...

• Nov. 16, 2009 - Sorry, another short one

Posted By Brett

I'm afraid this is gonna have to be short again. I will post about an average coputer day soon, but for now I can only say that I got my acceptance letter from Master's. So, that's where I will probably be going to college. I'm sorry if I don't sound very enthusiastic. I don't feel very enthusiastic right now because I have ALOT of school stuff due very soon that I need to do. My 3600+ word paper is due on Friday. And I get my braces off tommorow.

• Nov. 13, 2009 - JoAnn's

Posted By SammyJo

Ok, this past Tuesday, Mom, Shelby, my grandma(Nana), and I all went down to the new JoAnn's store in town at about 8:30 in the morning. We've been waiting on it to open since July, and we wanted to be their first customers! Well, we practically were the first! Yay, us!! I got some blue, green, and brown colored foam "paper" (ya know, the thin sheets you can get?) to use as water, pastureland, and a dirt arena for my miniture model horses(aka: Stablemates). I also bought some light-weight yarn to make my first pair of crocheted socks with. I got a craft to make for my brother's Christmas present, and a big jug of Tacky glue(a certain someone dumped my last jug all over the kitchen table). I don't think I got anything else....we spent, like, three hours in there! For the last half hour at least, Shelby and I went back to the floral section in the front of the store and brainstormed about the giant fairy treehouse we want to build. I'm going to need to get some babysitting jobs if we do that project.

That's all folks!

• Nov. 11, 2009 - A "Tag"

Posted By SammyJo

Ok, this is sorta like a tag, but it's also for those people who don't have a blog that would like to complete it in a comment (HANNAH!!)  lol!

Ok, the "tag" is that you have to post about your average day on the compy. What websites do you go on? How much time do you spend on it? And anything else you'd like to add. You do not have to dedicate a whole entry to this alone. Here's mine: I usually spend about an hour on the compy every other day. The websites I typically go on are HSB, and hotmail. I spend the rest of my time on Zoo Tycoon, or something like that.

And there you have it!
