Because of You

Because of you

I can see the world through different eyes.

Rose colored glasses that view rainbows in mud puddles,

And my imagination can join you

in forging for gold among ordinary stone.

Leaves become boats for fairies,

Raindrops the tears of God.

Through your eyes, daddies become Kings

Daughters princesses and dogs noble knights.

Because of you

I remember that wearing a tutu

To the grocery store is common place;

For a ballerina Such as yourself.

Stop and watch the smallest insect.

Capture ladybugs and then set them free.

Watch the clouds for pictures,

And don’t ever forget falling stars

Grant Wishes… three.

Because of you

Lakes become oceans,

And Stuffed animals live secret lives in the darkness

While the whole house sleeps.

Through your eyes I become the mommy of a princess,

The ruler of kingdoms with my king by my side,

Our house a castle, with

fairy Godmothers Visiting for tea.

Dancing in the summer sun,

Dodging water from the sprinkler,

I am no longer in the backyard but under a water fall

In the midst of a jungle.

Because of you

I know endless love,

That dreams do come true,

and secrets whispered in the darkness

Can be cherished for eternities.

All because of you.

Siggy Winner

I won siggy of the week again at Just Mommies... I had best bask in the glory while I can because I am losing terribly this week! LOL

The theme was "sports" and I won in the advanced category.

I caught my youngest little bug on camera as she learned how to rollerblade. She graduated from those little Fisher Price roller blades to real ones within a day and was zooming around on the "big girl" roller blades the next day. Apparently she has a natural talent... I just know that she doesn't get this from me! She was the same way with ice skating... stick the skates on her, set her on the ice and watch her go!

Looking Down

Second place winner in the Just Mommies weekly Photography Contest

Category: "Looking Down" - Enhanced

The path stretches before me,

bidding my wandering feet to travel.

My destination is unknown

but my steps are light

and my tread sure and true.

His hand guides me,

his strength flowing from within

Surrounding me with confidence.

I cannot see the future

but know without doubt

that we will walk there together

and I will never find myself alone.

For Squishy

I thought of you nearly everyday

Wondered what you looked like.

Who's hair did you have?

Were you using the same eyes as your father?

Were you happy within your life or did you need something more?

To me, you were like a spirit,

That oftimes whispered softly in my ear,

An enigma, pale and colorless

against my imagination of you.

Soon you became reality

Bright and shining,

A burst of sunshine pushing its way

through my doubts and concerns.

You moved into my heart and nestled there

as if born within

Slowly I grew to love you

And see the wonder that you are.

You wear your grandmothers eyes not your fathers,

And passersby comment on how you look like me.

We giggle together you and I,

Knowing that its not possible

but mere biology doesn't keep us

 from being mother and child.

Your hand reaches up to grasp mine as we walk

Firm and warm,

Larger than life

And I remember not that you were born to someone else,

but that you are truly mine.

Wood

There you lie alone

until the moment comes

for me to capture you.

At first, you look like nothing

A branch stripped of its bark

Chewed and naked on the ground.

but then I look more closely

and see within you your beauty.

Breath

Breath

Tree, gather up my thoughts

Like the clouds in your branches.

Draw up my soul

like the waters in your root.

In the arteries in your trunk

bring me together.

Through your leaves,

Breathe out the sky.

Winter

In the bleak midwinter

Frosty wind made moan,

Earth stood hard as iron,

Water like a stone;

Snow had fallen, snow on snow,

Snow on snow,

In the bleak midwinter,

Long ago.

Sisters

My sister is my heart

She opens doors to rooms

I never knew were there,

Breaks through walls

I don't recall building.

She lights my darkest corners

With the sparkle in her eyes.

My sister is my soul.

She inspires my wearied spirit

To fly on wings of angels

but while I hold her hand

My feet never leave the ground.

She stills my deepest fears

With the wisdom of her song.

My sister is my past.

She writes my history

In her eyes I recognize myself,

Memories only we can share.

She remembers, she forgives

She accepts me as I am

With tender understanding.

My sister is my future.

She lives within my dreams

She sees my undiscovered secrets,

Believes in me as I stumble

She walks in step beside me,

Her love lighting my way.

My sister is my strength

She hears my whispered prayers

That I cannot speak

She helps me fine my smile,

Freely giving hers away

She catches my tears

In her gentle hands.

My sister is like no one else

She's my most trusted friend

Filling up the empty spaces

Healing broken places

She is my rock, my insipiration.

Though impossible to define,

In a word, she is... my sister.
