I had a yard sale today. It was a bit last minute. Our block was having a sale earlier in the week, but I couldn't since I didn't have a babysitter. I decided to have it today, since my mom is off on Fridays. We put up a ton of signs around the neighborhood and we got so many people. I am so excited I made $336 dollars today and am hoping to sell more tomorrow. I put all my clothes (and I have lots of them) in rubbermaid containers, seperate by size and boy and girl, and then set the container on an empty one so it is off the ground. I have people looking through my clothes for more than an hour. It makes it so easy for them to find the sizes they want and they don't have to bend over. Plus I sell it cheap to get rid of it. I make all my clothes .50 cents and then $1-$1.50 for dresses. The best part is I shop yard sales for all my kids clothes and then resell them at ours when we are done. The twins get some new to match and I usually get that from the gift cards my aunt and uncle give us every b-day and Christmas. We don't have a lot of money, so unless I really need a certain thing I pre-buy for the next season on clearance with the gift cards. The funny thing is I get so many compliments on my kids clothes and I always say to them or myself Praise God for yard sales. I use some of the money I make on my sale to buy for the current season and then for what I will need for winter and still have some left to buy the things I do buy in stores (shoes, socks, underwear). It works out so good. My mom and I go to subdivivsion sales in our area in the summer where the expensive homes are and I find so many nice clothes. I just am so thankful to God that he always provides what we need and more for our family.
Whooo-hooo! I'm glad your yard sale was such a success. I, too, do yard sales and Goodwill for clothes...especially DS. He is in men's clothing now and whew! that is expensive!! I buy for the next season, too. I bought DD a bathing suit for next summer at a sidewalk sale for 2.00! Isn't it fun to be able to save so much money, yet provide what's needed for our DCs.
I am so in love with Jesus and am seeking to know Him more each day. I am a wife to Jeff and Mommy to 5 children (Bailey 8, Cameron & Collin 7, Kiley 4, and Carter 2). My house is often crazy, but always full of love. This blog is a story of my adventures, God's mercy and grace in my life, and funny days that aren't always very funny at first.
