I can't believe Fall is here. I love the Fall yet feel sad that Summer is over. I don't like winter at all. I don't even like movies that are winter like. Growing up around the Chicagoland area, I have seen some crazy winters. But this post is about saying good-bye to Summer. There are so many things I will miss about it. Here is a list of the things I will miss about Summer.
Flip-flops-Which I think are the perfect shoe. They take only minutes to put on and can be mixed and matched if your child can't find the matching one. (we are trend setters over here)
Swimming in the pool counting as a bath (I mean what cleans better than chlorine (bleach). After a day of playing you just let them swim for a 1/2 hr and even their nails are clean.
Sending the kids outside to play everyday.
Small clothes that don't take up too much space in the washer and dryer or the closets, like sweaters and pants do.
Not having to look for a missing hat or glove.
My girls in sun dresses (the putting on tights and layering up gets old fast)
Driving with the windows down, while blasting worship music.
Cooking on the grill
Fresh fruit and veggies from the USA and at a reasonable price
All the pretty flowers and bushes around.
I would love to hear some of the things you will miss about Summer. I will be listing what I love about Autumn soon too. I have to wait until we stop having one day in the 90's and the next in the 60's for that one. Plus our trees are just starting to change. So pretty.
Don't forget to comment me if you list them too.
Good-Bye Summer!
:>Michelle
I echo everything you've shared here. I hate the cold that winter brings. I tend to hybernate during this season. The only good thing about it is I don't have the yard work to do or the sweeping of the pool. I hate retiring my flip flops too! Have a great day.
Things I will miss about Summer:
1.Leaving our windows open to listen to REAL crickets at night (vs the 'fake' recording of crickets on the sound machine that my kids have in their bedroom during the winter - LOL!)
2. My kids falling asleep out of exhaustion (from playing outside all day) versus having to yell at them - "Go to sleep...NOW!"
3. Sitting outside reading on the porch swing
4. Less laundry because the kids live in their swimming suits every day!
5. Hanging clothes outside on the clothesline to dry.
6. Healthy foods that my kids will eat are actually in season (strawberries, watermelon, etc.)
7. Wearing my 'Crocs' everywhere! (I refuse to pack these away!!!)
8. The local farmer's market!
9. Watching fireworks (our local baseball team has them every Saturday home game...)
10. The end of 'vacation season' ........
I always feel a little bit blue when Fall comes knowing that we won't be going camping, to the beach, etc. for several months.
But ...I DO love Autumn, too! ( Now Winter....that's another story.....) ;-)
What kind of flip-flops do you have that take "minutes" to put on?!?! Are they some kind of new, high tech flip flops that require a minute or two set up? I personally do not wear flip flops, so I'm not up on the latest flip flop fashions [say that 10 times fast], but Melissa wears them and it only takes a second for her to slip into them! :)
But seriously, the nicest things about flip flops? They are cheap! What other kind of shoe could you buy for $2 and wear for a whole summer?
Amen to the swimming pool baths!! I bathed the kids the other day and said, "I think this is their first bath since summer started!" ;-)
Cousin Bill.. HAHAHAH!! "minutes".... good point.
Boy, I was so behind on your posts, I was confused for awhile about your orange striped clothes. I thought maybe it was your halloween outfits or something.
I am so in love with Jesus and am seeking to know Him more each day. I am a wife to Jeff and Mommy to 5 children (Bailey 8, Cameron & Collin 7, Kiley 4, and Carter 2). My house is often crazy, but always full of love. This blog is a story of my adventures, God's mercy and grace in my life, and funny days that aren't always very funny at first.
