Apr. 22, 2008 - Our Trip to Grandpa and Grammy's House
The kids and I packed up and headed out to my Dad and Stepmom's house yesterday. They live a little over an hour away. The kids were very excited and know that going out there will be tons of fun. Their horse just had a baby and so we were able to see the 1 month old foal. They won't be keeping it, so I am glad we were able to see it.
My Dad and Stepmom taught the kids all kinds of things about caring for horses and what to do and not to do. They even were able to ride one of the horses this time. They also went for rides in the cart behind the riding lawn mower and more..... Cameron had to wait until the baby was done nursing. I don't think he minded sitting up there a little longer
They were also able to feed the horses. By the time Carter got from the barn to the horses I think he was holding about 2 pieces of straw. LOL It was windy and his tiny hands couldn't hold it. He was just so proud to be doing what the "big" kids were doing.
They also helped to bring them water. Kiley was helping Grandpa carry his bucket
The boys helped clean out the stalls too. They didn't even mind that they were shoveling stinky stuff:)
The boys just love all that man stuff.
And finally I took some pictures of the kids walking down their driveway.
I am so thankful that the kids were able to be with their grandparents. I am sure they will never forget it. I brought home 5 filthy, but smiling kids that day.

Gee...those last couple of photos look vaguely familiar... ;-)
(And they look every bit as adorable with your kids as they do with mine!) :-)
It looks like you had a wonderful day! I would love to visit a farm. The closest thing we have is a local petting farm that charges an arm and a leg - and it just isn't the same as a 'real' farm. Glad you guys had such a nice day!
That photo of your kids walking toward the house belongs on the inside back cover of "Country" magazine - I'm totally serious! If you don't know the magazine, they post pictures like this all the time. Your photo is exceptionally good!
All the photos are great! What a fun day your kids had! My oldest would love to ride a horse - someday we'll manage it somehow.
Oh my gosh, that picture of the kids walking toward the house is awesome! You've got a really cute crew there. The baby horse is quite a looker too. Sounds like it was a fun day. Filthy kids always equal tired, worn out kids and that's a plus when it comes bedtime!

I am so in love with Jesus and am seeking to know Him more each day. I am a wife to Jeff and Mommy to 5 children (Bailey 8, Cameron & Collin 7, Kiley 4, and Carter 2). My house is often crazy, but always full of love. This blog is a story of my adventures, God's mercy and grace in my life, and funny days that aren't always very funny at first.
