May. 9, 2008 - Allergies and More Spring Surprises

I have had more Spring surprises this week.  I am really glad we moved in this house the middle of Summer, because it is really making this Spring fun.  Our tulips are dead and gone.  They sure don't last long enough.  Our tree on our driveway, started little pink flowers.  Then about 2 weeks later it bloomed.

Here is a close up.  Anybody know what it's called?  I don't, so this isn't a contest or anything, I am just curious.
But there is a price to pay for all the beauty that surrounds us.   ALLERGIES.  I am not talking about the ones I have had most of my life during Spring and Fall that are just annoying.  I am talking about allergies that knock you out! They make your eyes water, nose stuffy, sneeze excessively, itchy throats and sleepiness etc... times 10.  Living out here in the country has made this by far my worse allergy season.  But at least while my eyes are watering I get to see pretty trees, flowers, birds, and fields preparing for planting.

Here they are planting our cucumber plants and zucchini.

I can't wait to see what will be blooming and changing next.  I went and bought some of the vegetable plants for my garden today.  I did plant some myself in cups, but not all of them.   Now I need it to warm up so I can get them in the ground

That tree is beautiful! Such radiant colors. I'm clueless as to what it is, but I sure like it. Sorry you're experiencing such bad allergies. Unfortunately, that's the price of living so close to such lovely foliage.

That happened to me too when we had lived in the country, my allergies were real bad. I hope that you get through them. The pictures are beautiful. :)

What beautiful sweet pictures.
Isn't the purple tree a plum tree? Not sure just guessing of course we have one in our backyard but, the plums aren't like plums in a store so perhaps I am mistaking these for something else.
Anyway, lovely and sorry about the allergies I hear ya my thoart has been horrible with allergies.
The kids are so cute planting.
I hope everything grows wonderfully.

Hugs,
Sheila

I've found, as far as allergies are concerned, at least for my family, if we stay away from dairy products through allergy time then our allergies are almost none. Restrictive, yes, but it's worth it to feel better!

That's a beautiful tree, and I'll guess: a flowering cherry tree?? Not sure.

Have a great evening, and happy mother's day!

Ugh - I can SOOO relate to the allergies!
(Claritin and Flonase are my best friends this time of year!) ;-)

The tree looks a lot like the one in our front yard - which is a crab-apple. Does it get little 'cherry-like' things on it in the summer?

Whatever it is...it sure is beautiful!
Happy belated Mother's day!

Hi Michelle!

I'm not sure what kind of tree it is, but I've seen alot of them in town and I think they are beautiful. I'm off work today, and we are planting our garden. I didn't get any of our plants started inside this year, but I found a nursery close by that is extremely cheap. We got all of our plants and seed for just $21 bucks. What cute little gardeners you have. ;o) Enjoy your weekend!

Love ya,
Lori

I am so in love with Jesus and am seeking to know Him more each day. I am a wife to Jeff and Mommy to 5 children (Bailey 8, Cameron & Collin 6, Kiley 4, and Carter 2). My house is often crazy, but always full of love. This blog is a story of my adventures, God's mercy and grace in my life, and funny days that aren't always very funny at first.
