Brothers

Ah… brothers. Who can bear life without one? And who can enjoy life with one? My brother is probably one of the best out there, but at age three, he’s quite a handful. In the past, have found myself wishing that I had an older brother. If I had the option now, I’d go for it! But still, I have to admit that life is good the way it is – even though my brother is twelve years my junior.

Seth can always present new problems. If he was on the moon with nothing but moon dust, moon rocks, and his space suit, I’m sure he could create some catastrophe. It’s in his nature. I suppose that I have a tendency towards calamity, myself – but in a completely different way.

“So,” you might ask, “Why are you bringing all of this up?”

My reply: “Because I just caught my brother ‘Not doing anything’ again.”

I’m sure we’ve all used the excuse at some point. When we are suspiciously asked, ‘What are you doing?’ we naturally say, ‘Nothing.’ Of course, by trying to convince a person of our innocence with this reply, we are really reiterating their skepticism. Such is the case with the situation I am about to relate.

This evening I had just finished sweeping our kitchen floor when I decided to come upstairs and type up a post for my blog. I had no idea what I was going to say until I got to the top of the stairs. There, seated on the floor with a pencil in hand, was my dear little brother. In front of him was a stack of paper. I asked the question that I could, in truth, answer without his help.

“What are you doing?”

With his most innocent little smile, Seth said, “I aren’t doing anything!”

I knew better. I could see the stack of paper. I could see the pencil. I could see the guilt even through his charms. I stooped to pick up the paper and I counted it. 30 pieces of paper were written on.

“Seth, what are you doing?”

“I just making a schedule!”

My little brother must be extraordinarily busy – to require thirty sheets of paper for a schedule! And I noticed that most of his entries looked the same. His whole life is filled with ~ ~~~ ~~. What is it supposed to mean? “Keep mom up at night”? I guess I’ll never know.

I got the DVD today!!! It looks really interesting, I can't wait to watch it!

I'm not sure if I can be on today--we have to leave at 5:30 for church, so I may have to get ready.
