Hi Visitors, Readers, Faithful Friends....
This blog is dedicated to Brenda at The Family Revised she is hosting a blog to share our homeschool organizational tips, storage, space saving solutions.
Or lack there of...LOL Seriously though Brenda is looking for some tips on Organizing her homeschool stuff (I could use some tips how about you?)
I will share here in my blog my "Organized Chaos" I call it, some of it is actually organized and some of it could use some suggestions and help so feel free to share your Keepin it Real Homeschool Organziational blog too and put it in Brenda's Mr. Linky HERE!
Okay here it goes, I haven't tidied or organized any of our Chaos because we are to post before we organize and I haven't yet...I am actually going to organize/clean out and get rid of things this up coming week! (I will post follow up pictures of the Organized Chaos).
This first picture we have below is Mom's area and the only computer available to the younger kiddos.
I can actually sit at my desk and see in the school room if I need too and or peek into the kitchen.
It's actually our living room that we flipped into our dining room.
So behind my desk there is the dining room family eating table.
My Tip: The erase wipe board and bulletin board there by my desk helps me to keep things on track. (paying bills, programs for the kids, upcoming appts, and the kids love notes.)

In this next photo is another angle of our dining room...
We have a corner couch piece there, our Reading Bulletin Board Right now and our Hutch.
We use this corner to read to one or two children.
(on/and in the hutch we store sand art, our one beta, pine derby cars...it's basically a show case...and in the bottom cupboard we store our games).

One more item for the dining room is mom's filing cabinet.
My Tip: The filing cabinet works for me, I have each folder labeled for each bill I pay when it's paid it gets filed and if it's not paid it gets filed under Not Paid.
I also file our notification papers in there and some workbooks, or unit studies I don't want the kiddos to mess up or anything special I want to use at a later date in the school year.
On top of the cabinet are forgotten library books to return and our 10yo's Giant Eagle Bag he uses for Cake Class On Monday's.

We move now into our School Room which in a normal home (not that were not normal) LOL....
It was actually listed when we bought our home as a bedroom but with french doors on it I thought maybe a computer room, or dining room? So we turned this dining room/bedroom into a school room, it works for us great! We love it.
It's a place we can be comfortable and learn, it has two windows so the breeze is wonderful.
We actually had our school room in the basement the first year we lived here and boy we didn't like that.
This is a bookshelf we found on the curb and took it home and gave it some TLC.
It holds current books, past books, magazines, our cd player, our current schoolbooks and well, just homeschool stuff.
My Tip: Bookshelves are great but, this one needs a work over.

Mom's cabinet in the school room in the closet it holds my resource books, current workbooks or textbooks, tape, glue, all the fun stuff my kiddos like to waste and they love getting into mom's cabinet.
My Tip: I love this metal cabinet because it locks with a key.
What a great investment when you just want or need to keep those kids out of stuff long enough for it to be used where it's needing to be used and not wasted.
I love the great 7 drawer organizer....I would love to purchase more of these and may in time.
My Tip: These were great for us and have organized some things like Math Manipulatives up alot.

This is a overview of our school room from the living room we flipped into a dining room.
My Tip: I couldn't live without this room, because learning is always taking place and the kids have somewhere to go and learn without me too.
It's their room!
My chair is closest to the baja wall there where I can see a child on the computer.

My biggest need right now is I never have enough wall space in the school room to put all the posters, maps and things we want up on the walls.
My Tip to myself: Is to laminate the maps and posters put them on those rings and then make like flip charts out of them.

Another view of the school room as you can see through the french doors the dining room, so it's great if I have a child on the computer and still be able to see what they are doing and teach the others at the same time.

Again you can see how I try to use the wall space as creatively as possible...I like using the fold up tri fold boards for our timeline due to all the kids can see.
In this picture I am showing our hall closet....in the one picture above you can see our other door in the school room which leads to a hallway and in that hallway is our Homeschool closet where we keep some of the overflow organized in these tubs we purchased from walmart for about 3.00 or less.

Across the hall past the closet is the playroom...well, we flipped this room too it used to be our 12yo's room until we decided no toys in the boys room just beds and clothes and we moved the three boys upstairs to share a room.
In the Entertainment center on the bottom we keep puzzles...

In this last picture I have to show you is the most scariest.
I have been working on this closet under the basement stairs since we moved in.
It holds the stuff I have no idea if we will ever use and curriculum used in the past and papers, art projects and other misc stuff....
This is the worse closet for homeschool over load I need to organize but, not sure how.
Everytime I think I have it organized more stuff gets removed or thrown in.....By participating in Brenda's Blog I hope I can gain some great tips from other's and hope other's might get some from us and we can get this closet of ours organized and stay that way and help you too.

Now don't be shy....or embarassed just post those "Keepin It Real" Pics now and we can help each other out!
Hugs,

What a great room you have! I especially love the locking cabinet. You are so right about them using stuff up. My kids are addicted to scotch tape and I have to hide it. Right now they are little enough I can just put these things up high. The idea aobut the maps on rings is a great idea too.
Thanks so much for jumping in! You have no idea how inspired I've been! Much more than seeing everyone's "perfect" pictures. :)
