Keepin it Real--Organized Chaos--Update!

Hi Faithful Readers, Visitors and Friends...

Do you remember my blog about Keepin It Real Homeschool Organization ? It was dedicated to Brenda over at The Family Revised for her hosting a blog about keepin it real homeschool organization sharing our storage tips, saving space solutions and basically just how do we all store all this homeschool stuff?

Well, I thought I would show you before and after pictures:

Remember this picture of my desk area?

Look at that difference?

I moved my drawer organizer there that I had bought at walmart sometime ago and thought it would be more useful here, moved the hermit crab to the hutch and organized.

P.S. Only the bottom drawer on the right has anything in it and it's ink for the printer.

Remember the hutch? Well, it's pretty much the same only nothing in the bottom drawers no more school stuff in the drawers at all!! only stuff on top for display like the Hermit crab, Fish, Praying Mantis habitat, Ladybug habitat, sand art and such.

How did I organize it, I don't use it for school stuff no more.

Remember the filing cabinet?

Well, it pretty much looks the same on the outside and I never took a pic of the inside but, I can promise you it looks great now. All the folders are labeled nicely and hubby and I went threw it and burned all the items we no longer needed in the fire pit....yea!!

All the bill folders and keep folders are labeled and important papers are easy to find and bills organized.

We do still keep Miah's Cake Class bag on top right now though.

Those library books have been returned....and inside bottom drawer no longer holds homeschool items only notfication papers for homeschool.

Again how did I organize burned what we didn't need, use it for bills and important papers only No School Stuff!

Remember this bookshelf?

Here's it's Make Over...

Everything is now labeled...

On the top shelf we have all our school books in labeled containers there...

Next shelf is hooked on phonics items and our rainbow math game you can't see due to the table....

On the bottom shelf I took the kiddos 2 old lego boxes and used them for storage one for Math Manipulatives and the other for Coloring books and I'M bored worksheets.

Then the walmart organizer I moved next to it for easy access for mom to reach to grab items we are always needing during school...

Okay Remember the cabinet in the closet?

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I got a brain idea and moved it down the basement out of the closet in the schoolroom...it's extra storage or for overflow homeschool items, that I don't want the kids to touch all the time....

So here it is in the basement with just the overflow...

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

You must remember this closet in the hallway leading out of the school room across to the playroom?

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

It got a great make over too...
It now just holds all of our Books...

Mom's resource books, the kids readers and extra workbooks or texts and cookbooks.

It also holds the library tote on the floor there.

Remember the playroom? I stored puzzles in the entertainment center.

No More only videos and games~the only school related item that could count in the playroom now is the Lincoln logs and the blocks.

My organization I don't use it No more for homeschool stuff.

Now from the pictures you have seen I have eliminated the Hutch, Playroom and Filing Cabinet from homeschool items....

I also eliminated Under the Stairs well for the most part...Remember this?

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

It's not the easiest closet to take a picture of but, it has went to this....

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Don't know if you can see very well but, no more school stuff on the floor nothing on the floor just posters leaning in the back...the items on the shelf are projects the kids have made at home depot..

the crates are holding art projects and crafts I didn't have the heart to throw away...as well as some journals...Homeschool related under the stairs now Knex, art projects/crafts, and posters.

That's it!!!

I bet your still wondering though what did we do with the closet in the school room? The one the cabinet and walmart organizer was in?

This one???

We took everything out...and then we painted the inside closet and this wall Baja Blast!

Then through all the organized sharing, I found the greatest idea over at Linda Faithful Grace her 7th picture down...and I was like yes! that's perfect and here's what we did..

On the very top shelf that you cannot see well in the picture we have 8 of those clear shoe boxes going along the top.

Then next shelf down we have our games, educational games and puzzles.

Next shelf 4 walmart baskets under 3.00

Next shelf 4 more walmart baskets.

Then we have Mommy's tote to the far left, then this organizer thing that had cardboard boxes that I hated...so we put 2 dishpans in there a idea from a lady that commented on my blog, I think Jenny or Jennifer.

We have crayons, markers and colored pencils in the one and crayola's color mess free coloring books and markers in the other.

Then we have mama's index cards and blank pocket chart cards, wooden puzzles and the abacus that you cannot see.

On the bottom floor there we have Legos in the big tote on the left, Middle is Lapbooking Supplies and then Far Right is the Playdough and Playdough Toys tub.

That is how we organized everything!!

Oh! what we didn't want we have a huge freebie box actually it's overflowing....at our party some ladies took some stuff but, I added more later.

I am going to give some to good will and keep some for the August Free Swap.

I also threw garbage upon garbage away.

It felt great!

I love the way it is now, it is SO MUCH better than it was and I am sure nice to teach in....we still need to put our posters and maps on the wall but, that's coming.

I told my hubby I will go through the room atleast ONCE a month to keep it this way.

Now that I only have the school room, the closet in the school room, the book closet and the overflow closet in the basement it shouldn't be to hard...I hope!!

I hope I have helped someone to reorganize, I sure do want to thank Brenda at The Family Revised for her blog helped me to get organized.

Thanks Brenda!

and Thanks to the other ladies that shared their rooms for me to get ideas and inspired of what to use.

p.s. Our Video of Our School Room is Located HERE .

Hugs,

Looks great!! I am still working through ours- we have not much storage/closets and a lot of stuff. Sutff I like- puzzles, books, games....I am hoping as they get a little older it will be easier to remove some and make room. Plus I am a mess.....so it seems when I overhaul a room within a month or 2 it is a mess again!! I think I need wall to wall shelves in our school room with a ton of boxes, trays, etc to keep it all nice!

Welcome To "Barracuda Corner"

My name is Sheila wife to Steve, I was on a Path of Preschool Teacher and instead was directed to Homeschooling Mom to 5 children ages 17, 12, 10, 8 and 5. It's safe to say we have been homeschooling for awhile. Some of my Talents are...Being a Homeschool Mom, Animals, plants those are limited due to the Cat, love to clean/organize, cooking/baking trying new recipes, some canning, working in my yard, love to write and love to write children's stories although none published, love to read and to learn if I want to know about something I read to educate myself and to educate the children, love the smell of crayons and to color, love to paint especially watercolor, and love to play with playdough with the kids..there's more but, I can add to it. I created our homeschool blog for it to be a Log or Extention of what we do and hopefully to share with and inspire someone else out there who is homeschooling or thinking of it. I hope our blog will make you laugh, smile, brighten your day, encourage or energize you.

Momma's Kiddos

A Great Quote I Found Today

"SUCCESS"
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition, to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have SUCCEEDED!" -Ralph Waldo Emerson
