When my 5 year old daughter's
black moor goldfish began to not move around much
hanging at the bottom of the tank, barely breathing...
I will put the toaster, coffee maker, towels and anything else in front
of the tank in hoping she doesn't realize that her darling "Bugsy" Goldfish is dying.
I will do crazy sign language to my boys to let them know and not to say a thing and for us to make A Switch A Roo.
On Monday Morning we awoke to find Bugsy dead at the bottom of the fish tank again we proceed to try and keep my little girl from knowing he has passed on.
To pull off the great Switch-A-Roo I speak some more crazy sign language again to let the boys know Mom is going to try and pull off a Switch-A-Roo without her noticing.
I say let's do a Field Trip to the Pet Store (Yea! everyone is excited) even the boys we love that particular pet store they call it the "good one."
To spare my daughter their sister some tears.
We purchased Bugsy 1/30/09 and he passed 6/30/09
We will miss you.
While at the Pet Store we meet this cool bird
"White Crested Cuckatoo"
From what we learned about them they are wonderful to
enjoy at the pet store but, I don't think we would be
cut out for the work that comes with them. (nor the money)
He was so cool the kids had him dancing like the electric slide kind of thing and bopping with his head.
They even had him eating food out of their hand and we read these birds tend to occasionally bite. (bite good too).
But, he was really good.
I thought this was odd for all of our learning about guniea pigs and rabbits
we always learned you don't mix the two.
The puppies were cute.
2 Ferrets.
Also Parakeets.
Many other animals too as well as unique fish.
We love visiting this pet store because they always have unique and unusual pets.
Now you know just know when you need a clerk to help you they usually don't or can't find one but, of all times the clerk at the pet store blew my idea of doing a Switch A Roo...
The one time you don't want them to come up and ask
"May I help you find something?"
They do.
So I stood holding my daughter and told her in the pet store about Bugsy.
She cried, Big Ol' Crocodile tears then asked if she could purchase another fish and then I allowed her to pick out a new "Bugsy"
But, she named him Kitty, I call him "Bugsy Again." LOL
Meet Kitty.

P.S.
As we scooped "Bugsy" out of the tank into his death bag, she
touched him lightly and said "I love you, Bye Bugsy."
She brought tears to my eyes **over a fish.** Only Kids Can Do That.
