Azure sky and golden leaves
Woodsmoke wafting on the breeze
The crunch of leaves on the forest floor
As squirrels add to their winter stores
Shades of orange in the pumpkin patch
The scarecrow smiles and waves
He loves dancing in the wind
On lovely Autumn days
Fall is here
Its all around
Sings nature as dances
In her gold and crimson gown

Ok, the truth is I love the ELF movie. Its funny and never fails to get a laugh out of us. Earlier this year while book shopping at our local Goodwill store, I found a book called Buddy's Little SELF Help Book. It had some of the cute little Elfisms in it that Buddy quotes throughout the movie. I was talking to my DD about how some of those little sayings brought to mind certain Scripture. So , for this Holiday season I am going to leave this post about those Elfisms and Scripture at the top of my blog. Comment if you like. Merry Christmas and remember... Jesus is the Reason for the Season! Blessings! ~ Nikki
Treat every day like Christmas.
Psalm 118:24This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.
Psalm 100:1A Psalm of praise. Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
There's room for everyone on the nice list.
Romans 10:13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Directions to Heaven :
(Matthew 7:13-14)
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
If you try your best , you'll never be a cotton-headed ninny muggins .
Matthew 5:48
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
We all have different talents, and each one of us is extraordinary in our own way.
(Romans 12:4-8)
For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
I like smiling ! Smiling is my favorite!
Proverbs 15:13
A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
Christmas Spirit should never become a limited resource.
Matthew 2:10
When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
Some people get mixed up about what's important in life, and they end up on the naughty list.
Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
But that doesn't mean they can't change ... maybe they just need a little Christmas spirit .
(Romans 10:9-13)
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
I hope everyone is doing great. We have been battling several cases of what I call the "mini flu". It is short but packs a mean punch. Aches, pains, fever, chills, hacking, coughing, vom... well, you know the routine. I still have a sore throat and cough but I feel better than I did earlier this weekend. Friday was a rough day for most of us. Toodles has been out of work with this bug and the kids have all felt bad because of it. Hopefully it will be out of our systems soon because we have church activities coming up for the Holidays and travel plans to be with the in-laws.
I wanted to share this CHRISTmas poem with you that I wrote a few years ago. You are more than welcome to use it on CHRISTmas cards or even as a CHRISTmas play. I added a little bit to it and used it for our youth CHRISTmas play . We did a "silent" play. I read the poem with breaks in between some of the lines for CHRISTmas songs . ( We used the song "Rise Up Shepherds" for the shepherd scene and had our angels act like they were saying the words in the song.) Walmart has a great CD for about $5 - 7 called CHRISTmas Songs For Kids . It has a snowman on the front and comes with 3 CDs that are also CD roms with color pages and sheet music you can print. Those are the songs we used for the play. Anyway, feel free to use the poem just please leave the copyright intact . Thanks and keep praying for us all to feel better. Blessings! ~ Nikki

Well , Gin from Doe Hill Homeschool wanted me to share my story about the alligator bite . I wish I could say it was a grand adventure worthy of Steve Irwin or Jeff Corwin but alas it was not . I wasn't dredging muddy swamps for gators or gator wrestling or anything like that . Actually what happened was this ... Long , long ago in a time before I had crow's feet and silver streaks in my hair , I was a teenager . An adventurous , carefree 15 year old was I ! Oh well , moving on ... my Uncle Rick had a visit from an old Army budddy who for some reason brought a baby gator with him . I'm sure there was a reason , I just can't remember it . Well anyway , he wanted Uncle Rick to watch it for him while he was out and about enjoying the many fine attractions , that Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg had to offer . It was in an aquarium on the coffee table for all of us to enjoy , which we thought was great , having never seen a real live gator before . Well the buddy's enjoyment apparently was going to last the entire weekend because he didn't come back that night as I recall so it was up to Uncle Rick to feed the gator which of course meant my cousin and I would have to do it . Well grand adventurer I was , I volunteered , the gator wasn't quite as enthusiastic as I was about it though . Everytime I would get near the lid to the aquarium he would hiss and snap at me . Well , of course I was upset because he didn't act that way toward everyone else . My Uncle had even picked it up and held it for a long time without any problems . Everyone laughed at me and said the gator just didn't like me . To prove it they all put their hand in the aquarium and started petting it . Well , that of course kicked off my temper so I was bound and determined to show that gator who was boss . I picked him up (hissing back at him the whole time of course) and tucked his legs up under my arm so he wouldn't rip my arm open with his claws . I thought I had him pretty well subdued so I laughed at him and said a few smarty pants comments to him and low and behold it jumped at my other hand and latched on to my finger . OOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW !!!!!!!! Everyone laughing at me didn't help matters much . I 'm positive that gator was grinning and smirking when he finally let go . I put him back in his tank and gave him the "look" for several hours and reminded him how some people think gator is a delicacy . He and I just couldn't get along , all weekend long I tried to play nice and get near him but every time he would snap at me and sometimes even get close enough to bite again . I wasn't sorry to see that gator go . Sorry I could't offer up a mind blowing , swashbuckling adventure for you all . Hey wait a minute , there was that time I was bitten by that horse ...
A memory assailed me today that left a huge smile on my face .It was a memory of a shopping trip with my Mom , whom by the way is a wonderful woman . My Mom is in her mid fifties and thin except for a little tummy that comes with middle age . I on the other hand have left the days of thinness far behind (although I have lost weight but that’s another story ). My Mom and I are thrift store junkies . There is in our genes some malformation of our DNA that prohibits us from passing up a thrift store . We have the grandest time digging up treasure in these islands of unwanted stuff . We get excited over such wonderful finds as old books , antiques and tattered old quilts (my fave) . Many a treasure has found its way into our car .It was one such shopping trip where I learned that my Mom is not only smart and beautiful with the singing voice of an angel but she is also very optimistic . She can take the worst of situations and this case compliments and see the good and funny side of them . We were having a wonderful time at a little out of the way thrift store one day . We had once again found some wonderful treasure . When we went to check out the cashier (actually a young lady) looks at my Mom and gushes out “Oh , when are you due ?” My Mom looks at me with raised eyebrows and I try so hard not to giggle (really , I tried !). She looks at the lady and says “ I’m not pregnant , just pudgy “ That poor girl's eyes bugged out of her head , she turned four shades of red and I was sure she was going to try to find a hole to crawl into . The lady beside her begins to choke and cough and this poor girl starts pouring forth with all kinds of apologies . My Mom’s favorite was when she said “ It’s just you have such a small perfectly round little belly , I was sure you must be pregnant “. I wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry at this point because the poor girl was embarrassed beyond measure , so I went ahead and cried because I was laughing so hard . Of course through her chuckles my Mom tells the girl to stop apologizing that she didn’t feel insulted . She was actually pleased that she looked young enough to be having a baby . Well to make a long story short we all had a good laugh over it before we left and my Mom and I laughed all the way home . A lot of women would have been extremely angry if that had happened to them , some would even have been verbally abusive to that girl . Not my Mom . She found the humor and good in it and ran with it . I treasure that memory of that shopping trip . I try to treasure every moment we spend together . My Mom was diagnosed with MS last year and there are times she can’t walk at all now . Our trips together have dwindled some but if you do see us out in some thrift store someday , come on up and ask her when she is due . I’m sure she would smile and say thanks .
