A day in the life...

This week!

Since my oldest is away for 2 weeks, this week I sent my other three off to a music camp.  This is the first time since I started having children that I have none in the house.  It is definitely different and I had major plans for figuring out what we're going to do for homeschool this year and when we're going to start.

I've done a little planning, but I have been praying and waiting on the Lord to give me a clear word about what we need to do.

Because of having to pay for my surgery and cancer treatments, we don't have a lot of money to spend (and with gas prices and electricity charges the way they are right now, there's even less money).  However, I know that God provides and when he lets me know what we're doing, he'll provide the means to get the items I need.

We have been using Robinson curriculum this last year and a half and I still want to have them read most of the books, but I feel like I need to add something more, especially for my 11th grader.  I have been looking at Sonlight (again!).  I absolutely LOVE Sonlight but I also love the books that are in the Robinson curriculum.  I guess you just can't read TOO much!  I only have ONE child who really does not like to read, but he willingly reads the Robinson books, and I want to get back to reading aloud to the kids because I know that this is an important thing.  So.....

That's what's going on in our homeschool journey at the moment.

It's nice that you can "be still" and wait on the Lord to lead you. I really need to work on doing this. I feel so overwhelmed thinking about our upcoming school year, I should probably just take a couple days to pray and listen! On the other hand, how did you keep your sanity this past week with no kids in the house? I think I would just go nuts! It would be way too quiet...:0) Keep us updated on what God shows you for this year! I love to read what everyone else is doing and get ideas! -Brandi

You are right reading is the best learning tool for us too. Sometimes curriculum doesn't matter if you have available good books. Your son is having a very good education right now with the mission. How lucky is he to be able to help others while having some fun too. Hope they all have a very safe journey home.

Oct. 6, 2006 - Where are you?

Here we are in October and my guess is that you've found your curriculum. I can't believe this much time has gone by since I've visited you but Mom's battle with cancer took up most of the summer. I've no complaints. She's singing with Jesus now and pain free. Anyway, God bless and drop by when you have a spare moment. In the meantime.

Dear Father,

I lift this mother and friend up to you and ask for your healing touch. We see so much cancer these days and have to wonder what is the cause behind it all. But you are the great physician and can do wonders. I ask you to heal this woman so she can continue to be the Godly example and teacher you have chosen for her children. In Jesus' name. Amen.
