Opposum in my backyard

Posted in Nature

One night, when I was shaking the kitchen rugs after dinner I heard a rustling in our hedge. Startled, I looked around. I immediatly turned on the light and heard some scampering, when, all of a sudden, I saw this opposum streak across my backyard. I ran inside to get the camera and took this shot: DSC01145.JPG

Pretty cool isn't it?

Very interesting flowers

Posted in Nature

I found these when my family was hiking on a mountain, a different mountain than the Grape Hyacinths were on.  The flowers, called Hooded Ladies Tresses, swirl upward. We found out that they only grow in open wet areas. I didn't have the camera there, so we hurried home to take the picture. There is also some kuºburnu as the turkish people call rosehips, which is an oval-shaped little berry. You can see two of them right in the middle of the flowers.  There is also some acorns that I  picked up on our  hike.

A Praying Mantis

Posted in Nature
We were hiking near our house, when I stopped to rest, then, I saw the praying mantis crawing in the grass.

I took this picture of these flowers. They are called 'Grape Hyacinths.' People here call them "Ink Flowers".You can faintly see the praying mantis I posted in 'A Praying Mantis' hiding behind the Ink Flower stems.

Dragonflies

Posted in Nature

Dragonflies have four wings. They are insects. They are the only ones that can go up and down and sideways. One of the other insects that can catch dragonflies and eat them are praying mantises.
