Foster a love of learning in your child with
literature unit studies.
Covering one semester (about 3 mo) using four classic children's books, this unit study series of lesson plans are designed "guide your student into a variety of areas of learning." The Lamberts, well beloved in the homeschooling world of curriculum having written, Five in a Row for younger children (ages 4-8) are well known for their easy and sequential style of teaching young children. Their daughter, Becky Jane Lambert has written Beyond Five In A Row for older children ages 8-12.

You won't find these books in this volume, but a complete set of lessons to their study with good solid suggestions for exploring in a fun way the topics presented in the works themselves. FIAR offers these lesson plan volumes with or without the texts to be read. These are easily found at many public libraries too! There is a Parent Summary for each chapter of each book so parents don't have to read the books, and what a time saver this could be! Each book has a listing in the Scope and Sequence to show what topics are covered under the headings of

Beyond Five In A Row uses a literature approach to base the unit study of subjects learned. In our family, we base read literature based on their place in history. It's just a different approach. I feel that the material is well written and laid out for effective learning. I could easily plug these studies into a study of American history in the context of the years they occur. There are loads of activities for your child to enjoy and make learning fun!
