May. 30, 2007 - Molly--Pitcher?!?
First of all I would like to start by saying "Thankyou" to mandygrace for telling me the name of this font, so that I could use it on my blog. It really is a very nice one!
Now most of you have probably heard of Molly Pitcher. And even if you haven't, you probably have heard the name mentioned before. But did you know that 'Pitcher' wasn't really her last name? It isn't. Her maiden name (before she married) was Ludwig, but no one actually knows what her last name was after she married.
So how did she get the name "Pitcher," you ask? Well, her husband was fighting in one of the battles against the British, and the battlefield waqsn't far from the pump from which she drew water. So because her husband managed the canon, she decided to climb up on the hill to see if she could spot him out in the valley. Many men were dying in the fields, thinking quickly she filled her pitcher with water and rushed over to one of the young men dying on the battlefield. She gave him some water and then the next person till her jug was empty. The men dying on the ground, called to her: Molly ....Pitcher... Molly Pitcher! Till the other men thought her last name was Pitcher. So when the general called her to him and asked who she was, one of the soilders said: "Her name is Molly Pitcher sir, a fitting name too."
I laughed when I heard/read this. It was a fitting name!

You're very welcome! I've heard the story of Molly Pitcher before. In fact, I did a speech about her in a speech class I had to take in high school! Good blog topic. :-)

I love it! That is so funny! Thanks for sharing!
The pattern I used for my dress is McCall's 3129. I'm glad you like it. I'm hoping to make more because the goal I have for my wardrobe is to have clothes that can be worn any time. It's pretty much that way already, but I would really like to MAKE all of my clothes. I'll be sure to post better pictures soon, today if possible.
Sorry this got so long.
