An Old Fashioned Girl

Jun. 19, 2007 - Being Reserved For 1 (Purity)

I've been reading "Before You Meet Prince Charming" by Sarah Mally and this book has really been speaking to my heart. I've enjoyed reading it very much. I'd advise every christian young lady to read this book.

One chapter spoke about being reserved for one, (your future husband). Here are a few 1st things that you can share with your future husband instead of with 'someone else'.

1st exppression of interest

1st words of affection or love

1st gift given/recieved

1st romantic look into his eyes

1st trip together

1st special song, place, event, or memory

1st ring

1st dinner date

1st personal letter exppresing emotions

1st "I Love You"

1st piece of heart given

1st serious of ongoing correspondence with a young man

1st special affectionate nicknames or actions

1st kiss

...here are a few of my own:

1st caress

1st hug

1st love letter

1st long personal tak together

Just a few small, little, things that can spoil purity. I personally shall save my firsts for my husband. I shall also save my first kiss for my wedding day. I think it will be really special to do it then.

Jun. 20, 2007 - I sooooo agree

Wow! it is so nice to see someone else with the same commitments as me! I have vowed to save my first kiss till my wedding day for as long as I can remember! I have never actually read the book mentioned in your entry but I think I will go check it out at the library. I don't know if you have ever read it but a good read for you might be, "I kissed dating goodbye" by Joshua Harris. Keep up what your doing and remember that no matter what others say you are doing the right thing!
hugs,
Amanda

I don't see any numbers next to my comment so I'm not sure what you are seeing. Will you tell me what the numbers are? I'm curious.
Thanks!

Thank you so much for that encouraging comment Amanda! I admit there are a lot of people that you meet that think your nuts when you talk about Purity. It's nice to meet people on HSB who have some of the same commitments as me!
I have heard of the book you mentioned, but haven't bought it. YET. Sarah Mally's book is wonderfull, and I hope you read it.

Jun. 7, 2008 - :)

Hi Skye:
I think it's wonderful how much you love God and unlike many girls in our society you plan to share all your "firsts" with your husband. I have read Before you Meet Prince Charming and it's amazing! I just started homeschooling(I'm 12) this school year and I love it! I'm also committed to saving all my "firsts" for my husband. I'm an avid reader and have read all three of the books you have recommended. If you liked those books I'm sure you would love inheritance by Louisa May Alcott. I also recommend I kissed Dating Goodbye by Josh Harris. You can read my blog on my website at www.girlsaftergod.com my writing is somewhat influenced by Sarah Malley. I hope you will visit my site and tell me what you think by going to my Contact Us page.
Your Sister in Christ
